The Gambia Reparations Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alliance of Victim Led Organizations - The Gambia to deepen collaboration in advancing the reparations process.

The MoU strengthens coordination between the two institutions to support a victim-centred, inclusive reparations process. It will enhance victims’ participation through outreach and community engagement, and strengthen information sharing and referral pathways to better serve victims.

As part of the Commission’s fact-finding mission, we engaged with victims, community leaders, and residents from both Kerr Mot Ali Gambia, and Ndiggal, Senegal, to gain a better understanding of the issues at hand through first-hand accounts.

The engagements provided an opportunity to listen to the experiences and perspectives of those affected while gathering information to support the Commission’s work.

This mission forms part of our broader efforts to support victims, promote dialogue, foster mutual understanding, and contribute to lasting peace, social cohesion, and harmony between the two communities.

Yesterday, the Commission paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Central River Region (CRR) as part of its fact-finding mission to Kerr Mot Ali.

The visit briefed the Governor on the purpose of the mission and provided an opportunity to engage community elders from Upper Saloum ahead of direct engagements with victims and affected communities in Kerr Mot Ali, where the Commission will gather first-hand accounts to inform its next steps.
