CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF’S EID UL-ADHA MESSAGE 2023
1. In the name of Almighty Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful, the Omniscient and the Eternal Lord. I salute you all, my Cherished Muslim brothers and sisters, on your Eid ul-adha celebration. This Occasion reminds us of the Supreme selflessness and humility demonstrated by Prophet Abraham, when he willingly obeyed the command of Allah by accepting to sacrifice his son Ishmael. The lesson of this significant ritual should never be lost on us as professional soldiers who have sworn an oath of service to our nation. On this solemn occasion, I extend my best of compliments to you (my Muslim comrades, Officers, Soldiers and Defence Civilian Staff) and your families.
2. On this auspicious day, I consider it very essential to draw your attention to the fact that, as Muslims in uniforms, there is a spiritual obligation on you to continue to uphold the virtues of Prophet Abraham, the father of all nations. Consequently, I implore you to remain loyal to the authority of the nation, as Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) taught and demonstrated to Almighty Allah. It is also very important to note that as military personnel, Allah appreciates your personal sacrifices and your pledge to defend the nation even at the peril of your lives. I am glad to note that all of you continue to exhibit your readiness to make the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our dear nation Ghana and to promote international peace and security.
3. As you all join the global Muslim community to celebrate this special day, remember to show gratitude to the Almighty Allah for gracing the country with unity and peace during these very challenging times. Let the Eid strengthen your resolve to stay alert to the tenets of our profession, which are in tandem with your spiritual aspirations.
4. For our Muslims brethren on external operations, I appreciate how much you miss celebrating such an occasion with your families back home.
