A Growing Concern in NPP Politics in Yendi
Long before the rise of Farouk Aliu Mahama, Alhaji Baba Daney, and Hajia Abibata Shani in the NPP political landscape of Yendi, divisions existed but they had their place and purpose. Despite political differences, people remained friends, family, and allies, coexisting peacefully.
In the past, when it was time to support a candidate, individuals did so with passion and dedication. Yet, when the political dust settled, they continued to share bonds of friendship and kinship. However, with the emergence of these three figures, the political climate in Yendi has taken a toxic turn.
Politics has become a tool of destruction rather than progress. People have grown vindictive, willing to tear others down simply for supporting a different candidate. Relationships that once thrived within families, friendships, and alliances are now fractured beyond repair. Friends who once spent countless hours together can no longer hold a 30-minute conversation without tension. Even youth groups that once stood united under a common purpose are now splintered into factions, each rallying behind a different candidate.
One day, Farouk, Daney, and Abibata will exit the scene, but the divisions they leave behind may linger for generations. As loyal patriots of the NPP and proud sons and daughters of Yendi, we must not allow politics to rob us of our unity.
Support whomever you choose, but let’s not forget the relationships that existed before politics got in the way. Let’s revive the camaraderie that once defined us. Let’s dissolve these fragmented youth groups and come together once more under a shared vision.
Above all, let’s not allow individuals who barely spend a week in Yendi to divide us for their personal ambitions. The strength of Yendi lies in our unity not in political rivalry.
