Representing LaNMMA at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan
I was honored to present the vision and ongoing development efforts of the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), held from May 17 to May 22, 2026, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Under the theme:
“Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,”
the forum created an important global platform for discussions on sustainable urban development, housing, infrastructure, and resilient city planning.
As a rapidly urbanizing municipality, LaNMMA continues to prioritize sustainable growth through strategic planning, responsible land use management, affordable housing initiatives, and climate-resilient infrastructure development.
During the presentation, I highlighted several ongoing interventions within the municipality, including:
✅ Development of a 20-Year Spatial Development Framework
✅ Affordable housing projects for teachers and municipal staff
✅ Sustainable and compact housing development
✅ Promotion of environmentally responsible real estate investment
✅ Long-term planning toward resilient and inclusive communities.
I emphasized that the future of our cities should not only be measured by the number of buildings we construct, but by the quality, safety, inclusiveness, and resilience of the communities we build for our people.
My sincere appreciation goes to all stakeholders, development partners, traditional authorities, private sector actors, and residents supporting the transformation of LaNMMA into a connected, livable, and vibrant municipality.
Together, we can build sustainable cities that provide dignity, opportunity, and hope for future generations.
