Representing LaNMMA at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan

I was honored to present the vision and ongoing development efforts of the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), held from May 17 to May 22, 2026, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Under the theme:
“Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,”
the forum created an important global platform for discussions on sustainable urban development, housing, infrastructure, and resilient city planning.

As a rapidly urbanizing municipality, LaNMMA continues to prioritize sustainable growth through strategic planning, responsible land use management, affordable housing initiatives, and climate-resilient infrastructure development.

During the presentation, I highlighted several ongoing interventions within the municipality, including:
✅ Development of a 20-Year Spatial Development Framework
✅ Affordable housing projects for teachers and municipal staff
✅ Sustainable and compact housing development
✅ Promotion of environmentally responsible real estate investment
✅ Long-term planning toward resilient and inclusive communities.

I emphasized that the future of our cities should not only be measured by the number of buildings we construct, but by the quality, safety, inclusiveness, and resilience of the communities we build for our people.

My sincere appreciation goes to all stakeholders, development partners, traditional authorities, private sector actors, and residents supporting the transformation of LaNMMA into a connected, livable, and vibrant municipality.

Together, we can build sustainable cities that provide dignity, opportunity, and hope for future generations.

Madina continues to witness meaningful development with the commissioning of the Free Primary Healthcare Post at the Madina Social Welfare Centre.

During the commissioning, the Hon. Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, emphasized the need for all stakeholders and residents to ensure the smooth running and proper maintenance of the facility. He reminded us that although the healthcare service is free for the people, government is paying for it with our own resources, not through donor support, grants, or loans. For this reason, we must all put the facility to good use and protect it for future generations.

I also took the opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to H.E. the President and the Hon. Minister for Health for considering Madina as one of the first beneficiaries of this important intervention, barely weeks after the national launch at Dodowa. This demonstrates government’s commitment to improving healthcare access for our people.

This is more than a health post. It is hope, relief, and a stronger healthcare future for the people of Madina.

Now relax, sit back, and appreciate the transformation happening in Madina. 🇬🇭✨

Free Primary Healthcare is here in Madina!

The Free Primary Healthcare initiative is a flagship social intervention by the Government of Ghana aimed at expanding universal access to quality basic healthcare for all citizens. The policy seeks to remove financial barriers to healthcare at the primary level while shifting the focus of the health system from curative care to preventive healthcare.

I am proud that the Madina Constituency has been selected as one of the initial 150 underserved districts benefiting from this important national intervention. The Madina Social Welfare Centre now hosts the Free Primary Healthcare Post, fully equipped with the essential medical facilities needed to deliver primary healthcare services to our people.
Today, together with the Hon. Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, officials from the Ministry of Health, Hon. Member of Parliament Dr. Francis Xavier Kojo Sosu, health professionals, traditional leaders and residents, we officially commissioned the facility for use.

I commend the government and all stakeholders whose collective efforts made this possible. I also urge the medical personnel and management team to ensure proper maintenance of the facility so that it continues to serve the people of Madina effectively for many years to come.

This initiative represents another major step towards accessible, affordable and preventive healthcare for our communities.

Yesterday, I had the honour of joining students, staff, alumni, traditional authorities, and distinguished guests for the commissioning of the new dormitory block at PRESEC-Legon.

I sincerely commend Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong for this remarkable contribution to education and national development. This facility is a major investment in the future of our young people and will provide a conducive environment for learning and personal growth.

It was also a pleasure interacting and fraternizing with many notable personalities and stakeholders who attended the programme, all united by a shared commitment to the advancement of education in our country.

To the students, I encourage you to make the best use of this opportunity by remaining disciplined, focused, and committed to excellence.

As a Municipal Assembly, we remain dedicated to supporting education and development within our communities.

I once again congratulate everyone who contributed to the success of this important project.

Thank you, and God bless Ghana.
