HON. FRANCIS ASENSO-BOAKYE, MINISTER FOR ROADS AND HIGHWAYS WRITES... ✍🏾
Yesterday, accompanied by the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu and the Finance Minister, Hon. Mohammed Amin Adam, began a day's working visit to the Upper West Region.
Their first stop was a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Wa Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, at his Palace. There, he re-assured the Wa Naa of government’s commitment to rehabilitate the Wa-Sawla road. Starting next week, a contractor will be on-site to repair the deteriorated sections of the road in preparation for asphalting works.
Later, he were joined by the European Union Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Irchad Razaaly, at Daffiama to commission newly completed roads under the Transport Sector Improvement Project (TSIP). Under this project, government has completed a total of 650 kilometers of roads across eight (8) Assemblies in the Upper West Region, including Wa West District, Wa Municipal, Nadowli-Kaleo, Daffiama Bussie Issa, Jirapa, Lawra, Nandom, and Lambussie-Karni.
These roads will significantly reduce travel time and improve access to health centers, dams, boreholes, farms, and markets, thereby boosting the socio-economic well-being of the beneficiary communities. Additionally, as part of the project, sixteen Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) centers with solar-powered boreholes are being constructed.
Next, he inspected the construction of a new bridge over the Kambaa River, which will replace the current broken and dilapidated structure. With 65% of the civil works already completed, the contractor assured that the project would be fully completed by the end of July.
Finally, I inspected the ongoing construction of 44 kilometers of town roads in Nandom, which is currently 75% complete, together with Hon. Ambrose Dery, Member of Parliament for the area.
