NJNMA UNABLE TO ELECT PRESIDING MEMBER

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly commenced the election of a Presiding Member between three (3) Assembly Members contesting for the position.

The election was conducted openly, with all the 27 Assembly Members given the opportunity to participate in the voting process.

However, none of the three contestants obtained the required number of votes.

Consequently, the election was adjourned to be held in ten (10) days.The Assembly is expected to reconvene after the stipulated period to continue the electoral process.

The exercise forms part of efforts to ensure effective leadership, good Governance and the smooth administration of the Municipality.

DREDGING EXERCISE AT ADOM WASHING BAY

A dredging exercise was carried out at Adom washing bay within the New Juaben North Municipality to improve the flow of water and reduce the risk of flooding in the area.

The exercise focused on removing accumulated silt, weeds and other debris from the waterways.
The activity was undertaken as part of the effort by the Assembly to improve drainage and water flow, particularly ahead of the rainy season.

The dredging is expected to help reduce water obstruction, improve drainage capacity and protect residents and properties from potential flooding.

The exercise form part of the Assembly’s ongoing measures to improve environmental sanitation and the safety and the well- being of residents within the Municipality.

EASTERN REGIONAL COORDINATING DIRECTOR VISITS NJNMA

The Eastern Regional Coordinating director, Mr. Ebenezer Amoah together with his Deputy Director, Mr. Peter Sae Asare, Senior Human Resource Manager and Miss Peace Edem Akpemado, Assistant Director 11B, paid a working visit to the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly.

The visit was to share his vision, solicit the staff’s support, and also find out what challenges they have and to find best ways to solve them.

In an address, he outlined changes in the Local Government Service.He explained that, currently before a worker can be promoted,converting &upgrading,Transfers or Postings,apart from Appraisals ,leakage of Information and Attendance will all be looked into before any action can be taken.

He emphasized that "we can achieve our mandate by realizing that Local Governance is all about serving the people".

The Regional Coordinating Director (RCD) urged all Staffs to work hard to enable the Assembly qualify for the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) this year.

He cautioned Staff also about absenteeism and coming to work late. He advised Staffs to desist from changing their date of births.

He stressed that the Municipal Chief Executive must work hand in hand with the Coordinating Director and the various Heads of Departments by organizing regular Capacity Training to aid them in delivering effective and efficient results.

The staff had the opportunity to ask questions and made suggestions which management addressed accordingly.

NJNMA HOLDS STAFF DURBAR

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has held its Staff durbar to discuss issues such as punctuality and Attitude towards work,the Installation of clock system, Institution of Revenue Task Force Team and Address challenges facing Departments and Units within the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, Hon.Samuel Adongo in an address welcomed everyone and said it was a privilege to have such gatherings which enables Management to interact with Staffs.

He urged all to take part in this fruitful interactions, sharing issues with regards to the Assembly.

The MCE explained that the gathering was to help Management know the success and challenges of Staff.

Hon.Samuel Adongo urged Staff to be committed to their jobs and discharge their duties diligently.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Anthony Kwanenin touched on some key issues that have been bothering him ever since he resumed office.

He lamented on how some staff consistently come to work late whiles others do not show up at all.

He stressed on Attitude towards work, channel of communication, submission of reports, and closing time from Officers.

He said the Assembly have institute a Revenue task force and therefore urge all Heads of Departments to release some of their staffs to join the team.

He also urge all staffs to work hard to enable the Assembly qualify for the District Performance Assessment tool (DPAT).

The Staff had the opportunity to ask questions and made suggestions which Management addressed accordingly.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR MPCU MEMBERS

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has organized a one day workshop training for Municipal Planning and Coordinating Unit (MPCU) members as part of institutional strengthening and capacity building.

The purpose of the training was to sharpen the skills of the MPCU members knowledge on how the District Development Data Platform ( DDDP) indicators work.

The New Juaben North Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Anthony Kwenin in his address asked Participants to take the training seriously to enrich their knowledge on the District development data platform (DDDP) system and also to enable them discharge their duties efficiently.

The facilitator, Amoah Michael urged members to make good use of this opportunity to enhance their knowledge with the requisite skills to upload the necessary document onto the District Development Data Platform.

NEW JUABEN NORTH MUNICIPALITY KICKS OFF “TREE FOR LIFE” REFORESTATION INITIATIVE

As part of the Government’s 'Tree for Life'Reforestation Initiative, launched by the President to promote environmental sustainability and expand the Country’s green cover, the New Juaben North Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with NADMO Secretariat, officially commenced the implementation of the programme.

The exercise was led by the New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo, together with the Municipal Director of NADMO Mr. Bright Asare Ofosu and officers from the NADMO Secretariat.

The first phase of the initiative focused on the Kasadjan Dual Carriage Highway, where the team carried out extensive environmental improvement activities, including:

* Clearing overgrown weeds along the median and inner lanes of the dual carriageway.
* Pruning ornamental flowers and shrubs to improve their health and appearance.
* Preparing designated areas for the replacement of dried and damaged ornamental plants.
* Enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the highway to create a cleaner, greener, and more welcoming environment.

The initiative demonstrates the Municipality’s commitment to environmental conservation, urban beautification, climate resilience, and the creation of healthy public spaces for residents and visitors.

The Municipal Chief Executive commended the dedication and commitment of the NADMO officers and encouraged the public to support the initiative by protecting and maintaining all trees and ornamental plants planted under the programme.

He stressed that environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility and called on residents to actively participate in keeping the Municipality clean and green.

The exercise will continue with the planting and replacement of ornamental trees and flowers along the Kasadjan Dual Carriage Highway and other strategic locations within the Municipality.

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly and the Municipal NADMO Secretariat remain committed to ensuring the successful implementation of the Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative in support of national efforts to restore Ghana’s environment and promote sustainable development.

TREE PLANTING EXERCISE UNDER THE GOVERNMENT’S “TREE FOR LIFE” PROGRAMME

The New Juaben North Municipal NADMO Secretariat, led by the Municipal Director, Mr. Bright Asare Ofosu, with the support of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo, has continued the Municipality-wide Tree Planting exercise under the Government’s “Tree for Life” Programme, which commenced on Friday, 31st July 2026.

The exercise is aimed at planting over 10,000 trees across the Municipality to promote environmental sustainability, beautify communities, and contribute to climate change mitigation.

On Monday, 3rd August 2026, the team planted over 300 ornamental tree seedlings along the Kasagyan–Oyoko Highway, within parts of the Oyoko Township, and on the premises of the Oyoko Methodist Basic School.

The exercise received strong support from the Headmaster of Oyoko Methodist Basic School, the PTA Chairman, Teachers, the Assembly Member, and other community members, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative.

They commended NADMO and the Government for promoting environmental conservation and pledged their commitment to nurturing the planted trees to ensure their survival.

The New Juaben North Municipal NADMO Secretariat is expected to continue the exercise in other communities until the target of planting over 10,000 trees within the Municipality is achieved.

CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly has organized a two day workshop training for all Assembly members and Government Appointees, as part of institutional strengthening and capacity building.

The purpose of the training was to sharpen the skills of the Assembly members on Ghana’s Decentralization Policy and Local Governance System in terms of Deliberative functions, Legislative, Executive, Oversight and Representative Functions respectively.

The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo in his address asked the participants to take the training very serious to enrich their knowledge in the Local Government System and also to enhance their performance in their various duties.

The Facilitator, Nana Osei Safo Kantanka II ,urged the Assembly members to make good use of this opportunity to enhance their knowledge with the requisite skills in deliberating issues at the floor of General Assembly meetings.

They were also taken through how to move a motion as the Standing Orders of the Assembly requires by the local Governance 2016 (Act 936) by the 1992 constitution.

Twenty (20) Assembly Members and Government Appointees showed up on the first day.

Members were taken through the Laws Governing Decentralization and the Local Governance Act with other related powers.

Twenty-four (24) Assembly Members including Government Appointees and six (6) Traditional Leaders within the Municipality were also taken through Local Government Governance and Service Delivery Standards.

CAPACITY-BUILDING FOR NADMO OFFICERS

The New Juaben North Municipal NADMO Management Team and Zonal Directors have successfully participated in a capacity-building training programme designed to augment Leadership competencies and reinforce Disaster Management Operations within the Municipality.

The training concentrated on pivotal areas including Leadership, Domestic Disaster Management, as well as the Management of Bushfire and Flood Disasters.

Participants were provided with practical knowledge and strategic insights to fortify Leadership and improving Disaster Mitigation, preparedness response, and Recovery Efforts.

This empowerment enables them to execute their responsibilities effectively and enhances Disaster Management capabilities within the Municipality.

The New Juaben North Municipal NADMO thanked the Municipal Director, the Deputy Directors, and the entire Management Team for organizing such an impactful Training programme.

The knowledge gained will significantly contribute to the advancement of disaster risk management and the enhancement of service delivery across the Municipality.

MCE'S ENGAGEMENT WITH THE SUHYEN COMMUNITY

The New Juaben North Municipal Assembly joined Chiefs, Elders and the people of Suhyen to celebrate Akwasidea at their palace.

The meeting was also part of Government’s policy of bringing Local governance to the doorstep of the Citizenry.

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Samuel Adongo in his address showcased the numerous projects undertaken by the Assembly and the ones that were yet to be completed.

He stressed that, despite the novelty of the Assembly, efforts are in place to set the Municipality on a good Developmental ladder.

He urged everyone that his doors were opened for any form of complaints and suggestions when the need be.

He stressed that new measures are being put in place to construct all the roads within the Suhyen Township and also to deploy the Physical Planning Officers to ensure proper demarcation of the new area.

The Chief of Suhyen, Nana Okogyeman Owusu Basapon II on behalf of his people thanked the MCE and the Assembly for their presence.
