*KETA NADMO BEGINS DISASTER RISK REDUCTION WEEK CELEBRATION*

Keta Municipal NADMO will, on Wednesday, 7th October 2026, begin a week-long celebration of International Disaster Risk Reduction Day 2026 under the theme:

*“RESILIENCE STARTS AT HOME.”*

The celebration will feature the following activities:

1. Health Screening
2. NHIS Registration and Renewal
3. Disaster Volunteers’ Training
4. Clean-up Exercise and Gutter Desilting
5. Churches Outreach
6. Media Sensitization
7. Grand Durbar

As part of the celebration, Tuesday, 13th October 2026, will be observed as the Volta Regional Celebration in Keta.

NADMO Directors and Deputies from all 17 districts/municipalities in the Volta Region will join Keta NADMO for the regional celebration.

We invite the good people of Keta Municipality and the entire Volta Region to participate actively in the activities.

Disaster risk reduction is everyone’s responsibility. Let us build safer and more resilient communities together.

KETA MUNICIPAL NADMO PHASE TWO FLOOD RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

The Keta Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has commenced Phase Two of the distribution of relief items to communities affected by the recent flooding in the Municipality.

So far, relief items have been distributed to seven (7) affected communities, namely Lawoshime, Agorvinu, Awaflakpota, Vodza, Keta Central, Abutiakope, and Dzelukope Amugo.

The relief items distributed so far include Wellington boots, mosquito repellents, beans, rice, blankets, buckets, cooking oil, mosquito nets, basins, soap, plastic plates, and other essential household items.

As part of the broader flood response, Keta Municipal NADMO, in collaboration with the Keta National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has also commenced the renewal and registration of new NHIS cards for flood victims. The exercise is currently ongoing in the affected communities.

Several affected communities, basic schools, and health facilities are yet to receive relief support. These include Anyako, Konu, Aborlove-Nolopi, Vui, Anlo Afiadenyigba, Tengekope, Atiavi-Atime, Atiavi Glime, and Wenyagor, among others.

We therefore appeal to residents and affected institutions in these areas to remain calm and have faith in the ongoing response efforts. NADMO is working to reach all affected communities in the coming days with relief items and the necessary support.

Keta Municipal NADMO remains committed to ensuring that no affected community or vulnerable person is left behind in the ongoing flood response.

The Keta Municipal NADMO wishes to inform the general public that all 20 Flood Control Gates (FCGs) have been successfully closed today, 21st July 2026, following a significant reduction in the water level.

The Flood Control Gates were opened on 4th July 2026 as an emergency intervention to ease the severe flooding that affected homes, schools, CHPS compounds, access roads, churches, farms, and other critical infrastructure across several communities in the municipality.

We express our sincere appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Wisdom Seade; the Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey; VRA engineers; Amandi; Engineer Edekor; Engineer Kuleke; NADMO volunteers; Mr. Joel Deque; and all media houses for their commitment, technical support, timely information, and collaboration throughout the operation.

Although the Flood Control Gates have been closed, the technical team and NADMO continue to monitor the lagoon water levels and conditions in the affected communities. Residents are therefore advised to remain vigilant and continue to follow official updates and safety instructions.

We thank the people of the Keta Municipality for their patience, cooperation, and resilience throughout this period.

REPORT ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF ITEMS TO FLOOD-AFFECTED COMMUNITIES

On Friday, 17th July 2026, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Keta Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey commenced the distribution of relief items to flood-affected victims across the municipality.

Phase One of the exercises covered four communities: Kedzikope, Horvi, Havedzi, and Seva. The distribution was conducted peacefully, transparently, and successfully, with beneficiaries expressing their heartfelt appreciation for timely support.

To strengthen Phase Two of the relief exercise, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey is supporting NADMO with 250 bags of 25kg rice, 150 mattresses, 60 cartons of cooking oil, and 40 boxes of Wellington boots to support affected families, and promised to support all the affected victims in the municipality.

NADMO Keta Municipal Assembly sincerely appreciates the MP's continuous commitment and support towards the welfare of flood victims. We also extend our gratitude to all individuals, organisations, and partners who have contributed to the ongoing relief efforts.

We continue to appeal to the general public, corporate institutions, NGOs, hospitality establishments, and other well-meaning individuals to support this humanitarian effort. We remain committed to reaching every affected community with relief items and appreciate the patience, cooperation, and understanding of all flood victims.

Together, we will continue to provide hope and relief to every affected household in the Keta Municipality.

*APPRECIATION NOTICE*

On behalf of the Management and Staff of NADMO Keta Municipal Assembly and all flood-affected victims, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, Deputy CEO in charge of operations of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), for his generous support during this difficult period.

Dr. Djokoto donated 500 pairs of Wellington boots for distribution to flood victims and further contributed GHS 20,000 to the NADMO Keta Municipal Assembly to support flood response and administrative operations and promised to lobby for more of the relief items for the victims.

Your kindness, compassion, and commitment to the welfare of our people are deeply appreciated. May your generosity inspire individuals, hospitality establishments, corporate organizations, and other well-meaning Ghanaians to support the NADMO Keta Municipal Assembly in bringing relief to those affected by the floods.

PUBLIC INFORMATION

On Monday, 6th July 2026, the Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency, , together with the (NADMO), toured several flood-affected communities within the Keta Municipality to assess the extent of the flooding and the damage caused.

The team visited Anlo State School, Keta AME Zion Basic School, and Havedzi AME Zion Basic School, where they engaged pupils and teachers and assured them of support in the coming days.

The assessment also covered Abutiakope, Kedzikope, Keta Central, (Voda), and Havedzi, where the team interacted with residents to better understand their challenges and evaluate the impact of the floods.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to coordinate relief interventions and support affected communities.
