BUI POWER AUTHORITY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO 27 STUDENTS FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Bui Power Authority organized its 7th Scholarship Awards Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year on May 20, 2026, at the Bui Generating Station. Twenty-seven (27) beneficiaries from the Jama, Bole, Banda, and North Mo traditional areas received scholarship packages.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Charles Tuffuor, a member of the BPA Scholarship Committee and Manager of the Community Relations Unit, commended the committee for its dedication throughout the selection process and emphasized that the awards were based on transparency and merit. He also encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to their academic pursuits.

Speaking on behalf of the MP for Banda, the Banda DCE, Hon. Peter Dongi, praised the Authority for its continued investment in education and community development, noting that the initiative continues to ease the financial burden on families within the beneficiary communities.

Representing the Ag. CEO, Ing. Kow Eduakwa Sam, Mr. Chrisentus Kuunifaa, Director of OHSE, congratulated the beneficiaries and reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting their educational journey.

Past beneficiaries who have completed their studies are currently undertaking national service and internships at BPA.

Bui Power Authority Hosts Strategic Delegation to Advance Bui Agro-Economic Enclave Initiative

As part of its broader commitment to national development beyond power generation, Bui Power Authority hosted a technical delegation led by Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, Director of the President’s Initiative on Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), during a working visit to the Bui Generating Station on 15 April 2026.

The visit followed earlier engagements with the Authority and forms part of ongoing efforts to operationalise the Bui Agro-Economic Enclave Initiative under the Bui City Development Agenda—an ambitious vision that positions the Bui enclave as an integrated hub for energy, agriculture, industry, tourism, and sustainable economic growth.

During the visit, the delegation toured key strategic sites within the enclave, including Leyaata Hospital’s agricultural facilities, the Branam State Farm, the Bui Sugarcane and Cashew factories, and the Bui National Park. Discussions focused on expanding agricultural production, strengthening agro-processing capacity, creating jobs, and embedding environmental sustainability and ecotourism into long-term development plans.

A key highlight of the engagement was the recognition of the central role of reliable power supply in driving agro-industrial transformation. Bui Power Authority reaffirmed its readiness to provide dependable energy infrastructure to support investment, processing, irrigation, manufacturing, and enterprise growth across the enclave.

The Authority views the initiative as a practical demonstration of how strategic national assets can catalyse inclusive development, transforming Bui into a model for integrated economic growth in Ghana.

Dr. Otokunor commended ongoing initiatives at Bui and reiterated government’s commitment to agribusiness development through stronger collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
