Kadjebi District Advances Development with Major Water and Education Projects
KADJEBI, Oti Region — The Kadjebi District Assembly has successfully repaired 30 boreholes, significantly improving water access for underserved communities. District Chief Executive (DCE) Dr. Sam Issaka Suraj announced these updates during the Assembly's First Ordinary General Meeting, noting that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to resolve local water challenges.
In addition to repairs, new mechanised boreholes now serve the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School and the Dzindziso CHPS compound. "Water is life," Dr. Suraj emphasised, highlighting that these projects specifically aim to reduce the travel burden on women and children.
The Assembly is also investing in education, with plans for new classroom blocks at Kadjebi Girls’ Model JHS and Yadzo JHS. Financially, Dr. Suraj reported steady revenue from the District Assemblies Common Fund but urged stakeholders to improve local revenue mobilisation (IGF) to ensure sustainable, independent growth.

SOD CUTTING CEREMONY HELD FOR CHPS COMPOUND PROJECT AT KUKURANTUMI

The Kadjebi District Assembly yesterday successfully held a sod cutting ceremony for the commencement of the CHPS Compound project at Kukurantumi. The ceremony was led by Hon. Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka and his team.
The event brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, stakeholders, and community members, who expressed their appreciation for the Assembly’s continued commitment to community development and improved healthcare delivery in the district.

A SOD CUTTING CEREMONY LED BY HON. Dr. SAM SURAJ ISSAKA at AHAMANSU JUNCTION.

On 13th May 2026, the Kadjebi District Assembly successfully organized a sod cutting ceremony at Ahamansu Junction for the commencement of the construction of a 3-unit classroom block with an office and store facility. The ceremony was led by Hon. Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka and his team.

The event brought together chiefs, opinion leaders, stakeholders, and members of the community, who expressed their appreciation for the Assembly’s continued efforts toward educational development within the district.

REPORT ON THE FIRST ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING OF THE THIRD SESSION OF THE KADJEBI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HELD ON THURSDAY, 14TH MAY, 2026 AT THE ASSEMBLY HALL

1.0 INTRODUCTION:

The Kadjebi District Assembly held its First Ordinary Meeting for the year on Thursday, 14th May, 2026 at the District Assembly Hall, Kadjebi, with Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, and other stakeholders in attendance.

2.0 ELECTION OF PRESIDING MEMBER:

A major agenda item during the meeting was the election of the Presiding Member for the Assembly. Out of the total number of (54) Assembly Members, (47) members were present and participated in the election process.

At the end of the voting exercise, (46) members voted in favour of retaining the incumbent Presiding Member, Hon. Anthony K. Ahiable, representing (85.2) percent of the total membership of the Assembly. This overwhelming endorsement was in recognition of his dedication and good work during his tenure in office.

The election process was supervised and presided over by Mr. Christian Bokode, the Kadjebi District Officer of the Electoral Commission.

3.0 SESSIONAL ADDRESS BY THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE:

The Kadjebi District Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Issaka Sam Suraj, delivered his sessional address to the Assembly. In his presentation, he touched on several key issues affecting the district, including the security situation, ongoing developmental projects, and various socio-economic interventions.

On infrastructure and development, the DCE highlighted physical projects being undertaken across the district, particularly the drilling of mechanized boreholes in communities such as Kordibenum, Menudo, and Kadjebi to improve access to potable water.

Hon. Dr. Suraj also spoke on social welfare and community development interventions aimed at promoting social protection, child welfare, and community empowerment within the district.

On health, he outlined efforts being made to improve healthcare delivery services in the district. He further mentioned the launch of the Free Primary Health Care Programme in the Oti Region at Dambai on 9th May 2026, describing it as a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility for residents.

The DCE additionally highlighted activities in the agricultural sector, including farmer outreach programmes and agricultural technology demonstrations designed to improve productivity and modern farming practices among farmers in the district.

In the area of education, he reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting educational development and improving learning outcomes within the district.

4.0 CONCLUSION:

The meeting ended successfully with members reaffirming their commitment to work together to promote peace, development, and improved living conditions for the people of the Kadjebi District. The Assembly expressed optimism that the various interventions and development projects outlined would contribute significantly to the socio-economic growth of the district in 2026.

Oti May Day 2026: Honoring Excellence and Defining the Future

The Oti Regional Secretariat of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), marked the 2026 May Day celebration at Kadjebi by honoring 25 workers for their exceptional hard work and dedication. This recognition serves as a cornerstone of the region's commitment to fostering a motivated and productive workforce.

Rewarding Dedication The awards ceremony featured diverse categories, including Best Worker of the Year, Best Female Worker, Longest Serving Worker, and Dedicated Worker. To celebrate these achievements, awardees were presented with substantial items to enhance their livelihoods, such as freezers, refrigerators, sewing machines, television sets, and ovens.

Visionary Leadership from the Regional Minister In a keynote address delivered on his behalf, Honorable John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Minister, extended high commendations to the workforce. He praised workers for their unwavering dedication, discipline, and professionalism, noting that these qualities are the primary drivers sustaining and growing the regional economy. Honorable John Kwadwo Gyapong observed that across the region, workers have consistently demonstrated resilience and commitment despite the complexities of evolving economic challenges.

Pivoting to Sustainable Livelihoods as the nation continues its efforts to reposition the economy for sustainable growth, Honorable John Kwadwo Gyapong emphasized that such progress must result in tangible benefits for every worker. These essential benefits include:

ENHANCING OPERATIONAL CAPACITY: TOWN AND AREA COUNCILS RECEIVE CHAIRS FROM KADJEBI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY
The Management of the Kadjebi District Assembly on Tuesday, 14th April, 2026 handed over one hundred and twenty chairs to the Town and Areas Councils in the District.
The Hon. District Chief Executive, Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka officially handed over the chairs to Honorable Isaac Abavon, Chairman of the Kadjebi Town Council, who received them on behalf of all the six Town and Area Councils. The other Area Councils are Asato, Dodi, Amanta, Ahamansu, and Dodo.
These chairs are intended to assist the Councils in holding their periodic meetings, as well as facilitating other programs, important business, and various essential activities within their respective jurisdictions.
Hon. Isaac Abavon thanked Management for the chairs and indicated that the chairs will enable the Councils to meet regularly as expected.
Present at the handing over ceremony were the Hon. Presiding Member, Mr. Anthony Ahiable, the District Coordinating Director Mr. Innocent Gavua, and staffs of the Assembly.

The meeting held on 10th April 2026 brought incredibly empowering news regarding our ability to protect our homes and families from fire. By understanding that fire behaves much like a living thing, requiring heat, oxygen, and fuel to survive, we have the "secret" to stopping it: simply removing one of these elements prevents fire entirely.
Here is the "nice news" and the key life-saving protocols discussed during our session:

Empowering Gas Safety Protocols
One of the most positive takeaways is how manageable gas safety can be when we follow simple, proactive steps:
• The "Early Bird" Advantage: Refilling our gas cylinder in the cool early morning or late evening (before 10:00 AM or between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM) ensures you get the full value of our gas and avoids the dangerous expansion rates caused by the afternoon heat.
• Our Built-in Warning System: While gas is naturally scentless, a chemical called Mercaptan is added specifically to protect us. If we smell it, it’s a helpful signal that we need to check for leakages.
• Settling for Safety: After bringing a refilled cylinder home, simply letting it settle for 30 minutes to an hour before use prevents accidents related to the gas being "charged" from movement.
• The 5-Year Renewal: To keep our home safe, the protocol is to discard and replace cylinders every five years. This ensures the metal remains strong enough to handle the pressure, as old cylinders lose their efficiency over time.
Simple Home Protection Strategies
The meeting highlighted that we can be our own best "security guards" by making a few smart adjustments:
• The "Life Exit" Protocol: While security is important, the best news for our family’s safety is ensuring we have an emergency exit that is not permanently barred. Knowing this exit allows our family to evacuate quickly if smoke (the first killer in a fire) begins to fill the room.
• A Watchman in the Hall: Installing smoke detectors in our hallway acts as a 24-hour watchman, sensing even invisible "smoldering fires" in the ceiling or gas leakages and alerting us immediately.
• Smart Electrical Care: Rewiring our home every 20 to 25 years and using qualified electricians instead of apprentices prevents the "unlawful" touching of wires that causes most electrical fires.

Mastering the Tools of Safety
The best news of all is that using a fire extinguisher is as simple as remembering the word "PASS":
1. P (Pull): Pull out the safety pin.
2. A (Aim): Aim at the seat (base) of the fire.
3. S (Squeeze): Squeeze the lever.
4. S (Sweep): Sweep the nozzle from side to side.
For kitchen safety, the sources recommend using a CO2 extinguisher because it allows us to extinguish a fire without ruining your food; however, if you use a Dry Chemical Powder extinguisher, you must discard the food to avoid poisoning.

The signing of the 2026 Performance Contract Documents took place at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council on Thursday, 5th February 2026. The event brought together key officials, including the Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, the Oti Regional Coordinating Council Chief Director, Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, the Kadjebi District Chief Executive, Dr. Sam Issaka Suraj, the Kadjebi District Coordinating Director, Mr. Innocent Gavua, and the Kadjebi District Human Resource Manager, Mr. Donnel Tamakloe.
The exercise reflects a strong commitment to accountability, improved service delivery, and effective performance management across the region. Participants reaffirmed their responsibility to meet set targets and support development efforts within their respective districts.

KADJEBI DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ENHANCES RECORDS MANAGEMENT WITH ELECTRONIC SYSTEM TRAINING
Kadjebi, March 31, 2026 - The Kadjebi District Assembly today concluded a crucial training session for staff on the Electronic Records Management System (ERMS). The training, held at the Assembly's Records Management Unit Office, aimed to equip staff with the skills needed to effectively manage and maintain electronic records, aligning with the Local Government Service's new records management system. Participants at the training workshop include Administrative Officers, MIS Officers, Records Management Staff and Human Resource Managers at the Assembly.
With the support of the Resource Person from Dziboax Consult, participants gained hands-on experience with the ERMS, learning best practices for digitizing, storing, and retrieving records. The training emphasized the importance of accurate record-keeping in enhancing transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
Addressing staff, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Innocent Komla Gavua, highlighted the Assembly's commitment to leveraging technology for improved governance. "Efficient records management is key to our operations. This training positions us to serve our communities better," he said.
The ERMS is expected to streamline processes, reduce paperwork, and improve access to information, ultimately boosting the Assembly's effectiveness in delivering quality services to residents.
