RE: FALSE CLAIMS OF DISCRIMINATION AT KAKUM NATIONAL PARK
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has taken note of a video circulating on social media alleging discrimination against tourists regarding photography at Kakum National Park.
The Authority has verified with the Management of Kakum National Park that the claims are false. All visitors, irrespective of nationality or residency status, are permitted to take photographs and videos for personal use with their mobile phones and other personal devices. Only professional photographers and videographers undertaking commercial work are required to pay the applicable fees.
The Management of Kakum National Park has also issued a statement denying the allegations contained in the circulating video.
The Ghana Tourism Authority therefore assures all tourists and the general public that there is no discrimination in the application of photography and videography rules at Kakum National Park. The rules apply equally to all visitors.
We encourage the public to disregard the misleading social media claims and rely on information from official sources.
