*βWHEN NUMBERS* *WHISPER AND MAPS* *SPEAK LOUDER THAN* *TRUTH β THE BATTLE* *FOR CREDIBLE DATA* *HAS BEGUN.β*
*The All Peoples Congress (APC), through its Census Technical Committee, has drawn a firm line in the sand, formally writing to the Statistician General of Statistics Sierra Leone to demand a special technical meeting over growing concerns surrounding the ongoing cartographic mapping exercise ahead of the national census. This is not politics as usual β this is a call for clarity, fairness, and national balance.*
*In a letter dated January 20, 2026, and signed by the APC National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq., the party made it clear that unresolved technical issues from a recent engagement with Statistics Sierra Leone cannot be ignored. According to the APC, Phase One of the mapping process raised serious red flags that strike at the heart of transparency and equity.*
*The APCβs technical team questioned the very foundation upon which mapping teams were allocated across districts, alleging that the Southern and Eastern regions received a disproportionately higher number of teams compared to the Western Area, Northern, and North-Western regions. In a census, perception is power, and imbalance breeds mistrust.*
*Even more troubling, the party faulted Statistics Sierra Leone for failing to provide Enumeration Area (EA) data disaggregated by chiefdoms for Phase One β a critical omission in any credible statistical exercise. This moment is bigger than party lines; it is about ensuring that every inch of the map reflects truth, and every count respects the soul of the nation.*
