The Creative Arts Agency, in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana, the Embassy of Ghana in the Kingdom of Spain, The Black Star Experience Secretariat, Showbiz GH, and other strategic partners, has officially launched Highlife to the World – The Black Star Experience 2027 in Barcelona, Spain. The initiative marks the beginning of an international campaign to celebrate, preserve and promote Ghana’s iconic Highlife music.
The launch, held at Seasea Club in Barcelona, was led by H.E. Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, together with the Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, Gideon Aryeequaye. It brought together leading figures from Ghana’s music industry, including Rex Omar, Jupitar, officials of MUSIGA, members of the Ghanaian community in Spain, cultural stakeholders and industry professionals committed to advancing Ghanaian music on the global stage.
As part of The Black Star Experience, the campaign will feature workshops, masterclasses, cultural exchanges and major concerts across selected cities in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas in the lead-up to Ghana’s 70th Anniversary celebrations. The programme is intended to strengthen Highlife’s international profile, create new opportunities for Ghanaian musicians and creative practitioners, and promote Ghana’s rich musical heritage to audiences around the world.
The full roadmap for H2TW 2027 will be unveiled at the maiden Highlife Festival to be hosted by Laboma Beach Resort, in Accra later in the year.
