Current economic indicators already signal fragility, and forward-looking assessments suggest that conditions could worsen before the election without decisive policy action. This outlook is informed by recent fiscal data, government budget analysis, and assessments by global institutions.

CURRENT STATE OF THE ECONOMY:
Sierra Leone continues to struggle with high inflation, currently estimated at around 28.4%, placing the country among the worst-performing economies globally. Inflation is largely driven by heavy dependence on imported food and fuel, combined with exposure to volatile global commodity prices. As a result, the cost of living remains high and household purchasing power continues to weaken.

The 2026 national budget reveals growing fiscal pressure.
