Adentan Municipal Assembly-MCE Hands Over Contract Document for 24-Hour Economy Market Project

The Adentan Municipal Assembly, in the Greater Accra Region on Thursday, formally handed over contract document for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Model Market and Lorry Station to the contractor Double A Imperial Construction and Engineering Limited.
The project to be completed in 30 months is expected to have a Police and Fire Service post with a hydrant, a six bed clinic,and a pharmacy, an Environmental Health office,a market managers and parcel office, and an information office.
The other components are 132 lockable shops and 132 open sheds,160 open pavement sheds,24 wash room and 24 toilets,,10 ware houses,lorry terminal with additional space for large vehicles.
The rest are meat shps, a Crehe for 40 pupils and refuse disposal site,a Womens Bank, Mall and Supermarket, restaurants Saloon and Barbering shops,a six bed hostel and guestrooms which will be disability friendly.
The Ceremony , held at the project site, brought together the Client (Adentan Municipal Assembly, the Consultant (Architect and Engineer Service Limited – AESL), and the Contractor.
The parties were briefed on their respective roles and conducted a joint inspection of the site to assess underground utility service lines and boundary considerations.
AESL’s technical officer Ms Gifty Seidu emphasized the need for all communications regarding the project to be routed through the consultant to ensure proper management of variations and cost adjustments, thereby avoiding technical breaches,
She assured that her out fit would play its technical role to ensure that the project meet the required specifications to promote the socio-economic development of the not only the Adentan community but the Region and the Country.

Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo, assured the contractors of the Assembly’s commitment to seeing the project through to its completion as outlined in the contract.
She reiterated that the initiative represents a major step in advancing Adentan’s developmental agenda under the 24-hour economy framework.
The MCE urged the contractor not to only to speed up work but also adhere to the submitted design of the project in other for it to get value for money.
Ms Nongo said the handover marks a significan milestone in the Assembly’s drive to provide modern infrastructure that supports commerce, transport, and community growth..

DEPUTY LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINSTER LAUDS ADENTAN MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY FOR IMPROVING SERVICE DELIVERY.

The Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has commended the Adenta Municipal Assembly for its progress in implementing development projects and improving service delivery within the municipal.
The commendation came during an assessment and accountability exercise by the Ministry to evaluate the performance of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and ensure that government resources are effectively utilised for the benefit of citizens.
Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah described the exercise as a wake-up call for MMDAs, Municipal and Metropolitan Chief Executives, and assembly staff to work collaboratively to deepen decentralisation and bring development closer to the people.

She stressed that the assessment was not intended to intimidate assemblies but to promote transparency, accountability and compliance with government guidelines on the use of public funds.
The Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry would carefully assess the utilisation of resources and verify projects undertaken by the Assembly to ensure value for money and improved service delivery.
She further indicated that future releases of government funds to assemblies would depend on the timely submission of required returns and adherence to approved guidelines.
The Ministry commended the Adenta Municipal Assembly for achievements in key sectors including health, education, sanitation and legacy projects.

The Assembly was particularly praised for its innovative plastic recycling initiative, which transforms plastic waste into useful products such as pillows, bags and other items to help address environmental challenges.
The Assembly also recorded progress in infrastructure development, including the construction of a maternity block and accommodation facilities for health workers, as well as educational projects such as a kindergarten facility and an 18-unit classroom block.

On support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the Deputy Minister acknowledged the Assembly’s distribution of items such as deep freezers, poly tanks and sewing machines, as well as educational support to beneficiaries. However, she raised concerns over outdated beneficiary records and directed the Assembly to update its data to ensure support reaches the intended persons.

Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah commended the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo Assembly Members and staff for their teamwork and urged them to complete all ongoing projects to ensure that government resources translate into meaningful development for residents.

She added that the Ministry’s assessment exercise would continue in other assemblies, with final reports expected to determine the performance of MMDAs and strengthen accountability within the local governance.
The MCE in her reciprocal statement thank the Minister and her encourage and assured them for a continue hard work to deepen service delivery here in Adentan.

AdMA MPCU CONDUCTS COMPOSITE MONITORING EXERCISE TO ASSESS ONGOING PROJECTS

The Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA), through its Municipal Planning Coordinating Unit (MPCU), has embarked on a comprehensive composite monitoring exercise to evaluate the progress of ongoing development projects across the municipality.

The exercise, which forms part of the Assembly’s routine oversight responsibilities, the exercise lead by the MCE and MCD brought together key officials from the Works Department, planning unit, and other stakeholders to inspect a range of infrastructure projects captured in the Assembly’s project register.

Projects monitored include the construction of classroom blocks, office complexes, fencing works, and other community-based infrastructure aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing socio-economic development within the municipality. The team assessed critical indicators such as project timelines, financial performance, percentage of completion, and adherence to specifications.

Preliminary observations from the monitoring exercise indicate that while several projects are nearing completion, others are progressing steadily, albeit with minor delays attributed to logistical and operational challenges. In some cases, contractors have completed major structural works, with finishing stages such as plastering, installation, and external works ongoing.

Officials also noted that a number of projects have achieved significant completion rates, reflecting effective utilization of funds and improved contractor performance. However, the MPCU emphasized the need for contractors handling delayed projects to expedite work to meet revised timelines.

Speaking during the exercise, The MCE, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo reiterated their commitment to ensuring value for money and quality delivery of all government-funded projects. She stressed that regular monitoring remains a critical tool in promoting accountability, transparency, and efficiency in project ex*****on.

The MCE, further assured residents that it will continue to intensify supervision and collaborate with contractors to address bottlenecks, ensuring that all projects are completed to specification and within schedule.

The secretary to the Unit who doubled as the Planning Officer stressed that, composite monitoring exercise is expected to inform future planning decisions and strengthen the Assembly’s development agenda as it works towards improving infrastructure and public services in Adentan Municipality.

TARDINESS THREATEN SERVICE DELIVERY DESPITE REVENUE GAINS -ADENTAN MCE PRESAGES DURING STAFF DURBAR

The Adentan Municipal Assembly convened its first quarter staff durbar to address key issues affecting staff welfare, service delivery and ongoing development projects across the municipality.

The meeting, described by Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo as “open, honest and constructive,” provided a platform for staff to ask questions, propose solutions and offer responsible critique of management.

In a statement read at the durbar, the MCE praised staff for impressive revenue generation and outlined several infrastructure projects currently under implementation. She said the projects—whose completion stages range from 45% to 95%—reflect the Assembly’s commitment to improving service delivery and community wellbeing.

Key projects highlighted include:
• 6 unit classroom block at Amrahia Basic School
• 2 unit KG block at Ashieyie AdMA Model School
• 18 unit classroom blocks at Adentan Community School and Otano Bethel Presby School
• Maternity ward with staff bungalow at Amrahia Clinic
• Fencing and landscaping at the health facility in Ashaley Botwe
• 13 mechanised boreholes across various communities
• 2 Apsonic motorbikes for the Municipal Police Command to strengthen security
• 2 Navara pickups to support revenue mobilisation.

Hon. Nongo said the Assembly is prioritising staff welfare, noting that the renovation of staff washrooms is a personal priority because of its impact on both staff and visitors. She announced planned programmes to boost staff motivation and capacity, including structured training and development to equip employees with the skills and tools needed to perform effectively.

The MCE also addressed persistent workplace challenges, urging staff to improve punctuality and attendance. She warned that lateness and unexplained absences undermine productivity, increase operational costs and weaken team morale, and called for greater discipline, professionalism and commitment.

“Accountability and performance must guide how we own our roles,” she said, stressing that teamwork and collaboration are essential to achieving results.

Management, led by the Municipal Coordination Director, acknowledged the issues raised and pledged to act on staff concerns. Staff responded with applause for management’s positive engagement and the assurances given toward resolving their grievances.
Concluding the durbar, the MCE reiterated that revenue is derived from the public and that the Assembly must therefore deliver quality, timely and responsive services. She reaffirmed the municipality’s focus on improved service outcomes, enhanced revenue mobilisation strategies and greater operational efficiency to better serve the people of Adentan.

HON. MAHAMUD YA-ADJAGEY SECURES RESOUNDING SECOND TERM AS ADENTAN PREDIDING MEMBER

Adentan, April 3, 2026 — The Adentan Municipal Assembly has overwhelmingly confirmed Hon. Mahamud Ya-Adjagey for a second term as Presiding Member, following elections held at the Assembly Conference Hall on Thursday.

The electoral college, comprising twelve elected Assembly Members, six government appointees, the Municipal Chief Executive, and the Member of Parliament for Adentan (who did not have vote), delivered a decisive mandate. Hon. Ya-Adjagey polled 18 votes, representing 94.7 percent of the ballots cast—well above the two-thirds threshold required by law.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Ya-Adjagey expressed gratitude to his colleagues and pledged to draw on his prior experience to ensure a careful and effective administration during his second term. “I will use the lessons of the past to propel a stronger, more committed leadership for the Assembly,” he assured.

The confirmation process drew notable figures, including Hon. Mohamed Ramadan, MP for Adentan, Hon. Ella Christine Esinam Nongo, MCE and other party dignitaries, whose presence underscored the significance of the occasion. The Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr. Robertson, supervised the polls, after which Her Worship Rhoda Donkor administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly confirmed Presiding Member.

Assembly Members congratulated Hon. Ya-Adjagey and called for renewed dedication, urging him to adopt a fresh style of administration that prioritizes hard work and the collective progress of the municipality.

With this emphatic endorsement, Hon. Ya-Adjagey embarks on his second term with strong backing and heightened expectations for the advancement of Adentan.
