STATEMENT BY DR. HANNA LOUISA BISIW-KOTEI, NATIONAL WOMEN’S ORGANIZER OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, ON THE OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2025
On this special occasion of International Women’s Day 2025, I join millions of women across Ghana and the world in celebrating the resilience, strength, and achievements of women in every sphere of life. This year’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” is a powerful call to action—reminding us that when we invest in women, we invest in the future of our nation.
As National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I reaffirm our party’s unwavering commitment to gender equality, economic empowerment, and political inclusion. The NDC has always been at the forefront of advocating for policies that uplift women, protect their rights, and provide them with opportunities to lead.
Today, we take immense pride in celebrating Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the first woman to serve as Vice President of Ghana, a beacon of inspiration to young girls and women across the country. Her leadership is a testament to the capabilities of Ghanaian women and a reminder that with determination and opportunity, women can break barriers at the highest levels.
We also honor all our female Members of Parliament, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers who continue to shape Ghana’s development across various sectors. Their dedication, innovation, and leadership are paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive society.
On this International Women’s Day, let us all reflect on our shared responsibility to uplift and empower women. Let us continue to advocate, support, and invest in the limitless potential of Ghanaian women, knowing that when women thrive, our nation prospers.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Signed,
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei
National Women’s Organizer, NDC
