Snuggle Up & Share a Book!!!

The States Early Years Team are running a competition in collaboration with Guernsey Press to celebrate the joy of sharing books with young children. As part of the Go All In National Year of Reading Campaign we hope to highlight the important part that book sharing plays in early development. Most importantly we want to celebrate those special moments that occur when we Snuggle Up & Share a Book.
We would love to see photographs of your little one snuggled up with parents, carers, grandparents, siblings, friends or even pets. To enter the competition send your photographs to [email protected] along with your child's name and age.
By entering the competition, parents and carers are agreeing to consent for their child’s image and name to be used on the States of Guernsey Early Years Team and Guernsey Press social media pages and website, and for their image and name to be published in the Guernsey Press in connection with the Snuggle Up & Share A Book competition. States of Guernsey Early Years Team and Guernsey Press will take all steps to ensure these images are used solely for the purposes
for which they are intended. If you become aware that these images are being used inappropriately, please inform us immediately by emailing [email protected]
Entry to the competition closes on Monday 6 July, with winners, selected by the States Early Years Team and the Guernsey Press, from age groups birth to 2 years old and 3-5 years old, with prizes of a book bundle awarded to each winner.

Lymes Disease: Be Tick Aware

Ticks can carry infections like Lyme disease and, rarely, tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). They’re most active from April to July but can be found year‑round, so stay tick aware, check for bites, and know when to seek medical advice. Stick to paths, avoid brushing vegetation, and wear protective clothing. Use insect repellent, check regularly for ticks, and remove any promptly with fine‑tipped tweezers.

Please note that NHS 111 does not apply to Guernsey. If required, please contact your GP for medical advice.

Art in the Early Years isn't about creating something beautiful, it's much more about the process. Children learn more about colour, shape, texture, language, their senses, hand-eye coordination and have more fun by experiencing art materials than focusing on a final product. If you child doesn't bring home art work depicting a specific object or experience from their Early Years setting it doesn't mean they aren't fully immersing themselves in creative, physical and language development, they probably are!
