University of Worcester's VI information day helping young people understand what is like being a VI student at uni.

Ever wondered what it is like to go to university as a VI student? Six young people from RNC discovered more today during a special trip to the University of Worcester Lakeside Campus.
RNC students joined young people from New College Worcester during the VI Information Day to explore the residential halls, a lecture theatre and student life in general.
RNC students, Paris, Lauren, Jacob, Davide, Skye and Roman enjoyed hearing from current and former VI uni students along with lots of handy hints on how to take the next steps in their careers.
Among the current uni students was Alice Hopkins who gave a brilliant talk about her five years at Worcester. Alice and Harrison Keasey who gave an online talk about his experiences, are both former RNC students.
Students also enjoyed a DSA talk and explored a variety of accessible formats during the visit.

We have also been asked to share this opportunity for people with an ADHD diagnosis:

My name is Caitlin, and I am a student at Birmingham City University, studying MSc Child and Adolescent Psychology. I am currently looking to recruit participants for my master’s dissertation project, which *aims to explore the gender differences in learning motivation in ADHD-diagnosed secondary school aged children.*

The study involves completing one questionnaire, some demographic information, and it is anticipated that it will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

It has ethical approval from the Departmental Research Ethics Committee at Birmingham City University.

If you would like to take a look yourself, or would like to recommend the study to someone, the link can be found here:

https://bcu.questionpro.eu/t/AB3vDFsZB3wfBz

Participation is of course completely voluntary, and participants must have an ADHD diagnosis to participate. However, if the participant finds the topics of ADHD, mental health, and medication upsetting, we encourage them not to take part. Parental consent will be needed if the participant is under 16 years old. All data will remain confidential and anonymous, and participants have the standard rights to withdraw and not answer any questions.

We were made aware of a grant from The Body Coach:

Hi there, I’ve got some really exciting news to share with you.

The Body Coach Foundation’s first grant window is now open! We have a fund called the ‘Get Kids Moving Fund’ which will award grants ranging from £1,000–£10,000, to organisations working with children and young people to get them active and support their wellbeing through movement.

At The Body Coach Foundation, we believe every child deserves the chance to move more, feel good, build confidence, and live a healthier, happier life. That’s why this first grant window will focus on organisations helping children and young people.

Across the UK, there are so many brilliant organisations doing amazing work in their communities. We want to help support more of that work, so even more children and young people can access movement, sport and physical activity, no matter their background or circumstances.

So if you’re part of a charity, sports club or community group working with young people and could benefit from funding, we’d love you to apply.
And if you know an organisation that could benefit, please share this with them too.

We’re expecting lots of amazing organisations to apply, so we’re starting with a short Expression of Interest form to help manage demand and quickly review applications. We’ll be taking applications throughout June, and if you’re shortlisted, we’ll then invite you to complete a full grant application in July.

🗓 Key dates:
• Expression of Interest closes: 30th June
• Shortlisted organisations contacted: July
• Successful organisations announced: August

I’m really excited to see the incredible work happening across the UK and to help support more of it through The Body Coach Foundation.
Love Joe x

The link to apply will be in the comments

*What is VU Too?*

We noticed that some children and young people were struggling to attend Voices United meetings due to timing issues. To make sure that they could still share their opinions, we started VU Too, our second forum.

VU Too is during the school day and is only online. Schools and settings (and individuals) are invited and they bring groups of students to contribute. Our largest group from one school has been 21 students! Our smallest was 2 students.

The topic (as decided by the students) and questions for discussion are shared in advance, so that everyone has time to think about what they would like to contribute.

We collect their ideas and then share it back to the participants. We also use it to help make change and improve the outcomes for young people with SEND in Worcestershire.

You can join this meeting! Message us and we can add you to the invite list

If your child is starting Reception in September, this is an invite to complete a Health Needs Assessment for them through School Screener.

If your child starts Reception in September 2026 at a Worcestershire school, we’re inviting you (parents and carers) to complete a short, secure Health Needs Assessment questionnaire through School Screener.

This helps us understand your child’s individual needs as they begin school.

✅ Quick and easy to complete online
✅ Confidential and secure
✅ Helps us provide the right support at the right time

You can complete it through the link sent from your school or here: https://wor012.schoolscreener.com/Portal/ #/Worcestershire/g/2627RHNA
