🚨 Major capability upgrade for South Worcester Flood Rescue🚨

After months of specialist testing, we’re proud to unveil the latest additions to our flood response fleet:

🟠 Rapid deployment rescue submersible
🟠 Personal aerial water jetpack units
🟠 Amphibious command chair, introduced in response to our management team’s ever-worsening bad backs

These cutting-edge assets will reportedly improve command, control, access, morale, and the ability to arrive at incidents looking extremely impressive.

We’d like to thank our procurement team for somehow getting all of this signed off.

It has been a busy weekend for the South Worcester Flood Rescue team. Some of our instructors have been running workshops at the Surf Life Saving GB Lifesaving Summit 2026! We have also been sharing water safety messages at the Evesham Leisure Centre! It was great to see lots of new faces and people showing interest around water safety and drowning prevention!

We’re continuing our appeal for donated devices to support South Worcester Flood Rescue operations across Worcestershire.

We are looking for second-hand:
• Android phones and tablets
• iPhones and iPads
• Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Go devices
• Windows laptops and 2-in-1s

Wi-Fi-only devices are perfectly suitable. All donated equipment is securely wiped and checked before use, and no personal data is accessed or recovered.

Additional items such as power banks, protective cases and charging cables are also very helpful.

Any devices we’re unable to use operationally will be responsibly traded in, with the value going directly towards purchasing suitable equipment for our volunteer crews.

If you, your organisation or your workplace have recently upgraded equipment and may have unused devices available, we would be very grateful to hear from you.

Your support helps us improve mapping, coordination and volunteer safety during training and live flood incidents across Worcestershire.

After a lifetime of grey skies, the sun finally appeared… naturally this phenomenon required only one thing: getting soaking wet and freezing cold all over again.

Today’s training on the River Avon gave us the chance to work in higher flow conditions, keeping our boat handling skills sharp and realistic.
We also refreshed our knowledge of engine mechanics and diagnostics, ensuring we can quickly identify and resolve issues while operating on the water.
The day was rounded off with rope technical skills and mechanical advantage systems, focusing on safe, efficient techniques that are vital during flood and swift water incidents.
It might have looked like a nice sunny day to everyone else, but for us it was another opportunity to train hard, stay prepared and make sure we’re ready when our communities need us most.

This weekend we have been undertaking more community engagement training. We have been continuing working with Stratford On Avon Kayaks undertaking additional First Aid Training! ⛑️

Just to reinforce that our volunteers are never off duty, after finishing yesterday, one of our team members assisted with providing First Aid to an individual prior to Ambulance Service arrival 🚑.
