Woodley Town Councillor Kester Charles Bey has joined the Green Party.

Having sat as an independent councillor, representing Bulmershe Ward on the Town Council, councillor Bey has chosen to join recent Green Party addition Majid Nagra as the town council’s second Green representative.

Cllr Bey was elected as a Labour councillor in 2023, and left the Labour Party in 2024.

Cllr Bey said: “What attracted me to the Green Party was its common-sense

principles that relate to people.

“The policies are achievable and reflect the views of the people, which is our job as councillors.

“I’m proud to represent a party that supports diversity of nationality in our communities.”

Wokingham Green Party leader Gary Shacklady added: “We are delighted and proud to welcome Kester as a member of our party and as our second Green councillor on Woodley Town Council.

“This shows that we are attracting experienced, well-respected and popular councillors to our party, who share our values and our vision for a cleaner, fairer and safer local area.”

Mr Shacklady was the Green candidate for the Earley and Woodley constituency during the 2024 general election.
