By tapping into children’s interests, we’re able to better connect with them and engage them for longer – giving them the best possible chance of excelling. Independence is built through the everyday things 🏡

📅 Keeping on top of appointments
💷 Working out a weekly budget
🧺 Doing the washing before you run out of clean clothes!

These might feel like ordinary parts of adult life, but they're skills that take time and practice to build.

Within our Supported Accommodation (16+), young people have the opportunity to take on more responsibility for their day-to-day lives, with our team there to offer guidance when they need it.

It's not about expecting young people to know how to do everything straight away. It's about giving them the chance to try, learn, make decisions and gradually become more confident doing things for themselves.

What a brilliant day celebrating our young people and everything they have achieved 🌟

Our Deputy Services Manager, Nat Martin, and Senior Support Worker, Richard Tobin, had the pleasure of supporting some of our young people from Storyy Homes to attend the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead / Achieving for Children ‘Celebration of YOU’ event.

There was plenty happening throughout the day, from games and prizes to caricature drawings, balloon animals, a bouncy castle and some delicious freshly made pizzas.

The highlight, though, was seeing so many of our young people recognised during the awards ceremony. We were incredibly proud to watch them receive nominations and certificates celebrating their individual achievements 🏆

To top it all off, three out of four people in our group even came away with raffle prizes!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in organising such a positive celebration, and congratulations to all the young people who were recognised. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate them and everything they have achieved.

Our Children’s Homes and Supported Accommodation (16+) are designed to give children and young people a safe, welcoming place where they can feel comfortable, build confidence and prepare for what comes next.

Our Children’s Homes support children aged 8–16, with individualised care focused on wellbeing, education and personal development. For young people moving towards adulthood, our Supported Accommodation (16+) focuses on building independence through everyday life skills, managing finances and preparing for education, employment, training or apprenticeships.

Every young person who comes to Storyy has their own experiences, needs and goals, so the support around them should reflect that too.

Whether it’s learning to cook a favourite meal, managing their own routine, preparing for work or simply beginning to feel settled in their home, we’re there to support each step forward.

At Storyy Education, we know that age doesn't always tell you what kind of support a young person needs 🌟

Our Primary Alternative Provision supports children across Key Stages 1 and 2, generally up to age 11. But we also look at the individual child and where they are in their journey. If a young person is approaching secondary age but isn't ready for that transition, we can consider what environment and support will work best for them.

Our Secondary Provision supports young people aged 11–16 across Key Stages 3 and 4, with learning and support shaped around their individual needs, interests and goals.

For young people moving beyond Year 11, our Post-16 outreach support focuses on what comes next. That could mean preparing for college, exploring apprenticeships or developing the everyday life skills and independence they'll need as they move towards adulthood.

It's always about the individual, their stage and what will help them take that next step.

Our Alternative Provisions are back in the swing of things after the summer holidays! ☀️

A new term is here, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our young people back to Storyy Education for another year of learning, growing and plenty of new experiences.

Before the summer holidays, our young people stepped into the world of Kings, Queens and Castles for one of their topic weeks 👑

Young people explored what castles were used for, what life was like inside them and the different roles people would have had, before bringing their learning to life through a range of creative activities.

They created shadow paintings, designed their own coats of arms and used Lego to build rooms inspired by life inside a castle. Young people also created their own castles using recyclable materials, with some working brilliantly together to plan their designs and bring their ideas to life.

Alongside all the creativity, there were opportunities to develop teamwork, problem-solving and fine motor skills, as well as practising multiplication through a themed colour by number activity 🏰

It was great to see so many different skills being developed while young people explored the topic in a fun and engaging way.

We’re really proud to share our 2025/26 Storyy Education Impact Report 🌟

Throughout the last academic year, our teams across the South East and South Central supported 188 children and young people, each with their own experiences, strengths and goals.

There’s so much to celebrate!

📚 1,006 AQA Units completed
🎓 11 Functional Skills qualifications achieved
📈 156 young people improved their attendance by 10% or more
🏫 32 successful reintegrations into mainstream education
🌱 36 transitions into specialist provision
💼 Plus young people moving on to college, apprenticeships and employment.

Of course, progress doesn’t always come with a certificate or a statistic.

Sometimes it’s reading aloud in front of others for the first time, joining a group session, travelling independently or simply beginning to feel more confident about learning again.

Our new Impact Report celebrates all of it, along with the young people, families, schools, Local Authorities, professionals and Storyy teams who have been part of the journey.

Looking back at a brilliant end to the school year at Storyybrook 🎪

Our circus-themed Fun Day brought together so many of the things our young people enjoy, with face painting, arts and crafts, hook a duck, an inflatable obstacle course and plenty more to get involved in throughout the day.

Young people made their way around the different activities, collecting tickets along the way which they could exchange for a prize to take home.

One of our favourite moments had to be hearing one young person say, "I am having the best day!" Sometimes that says everything you need to know about how much the day was enjoyed.

This video captures just some of the fun, laughter and smiles from the day. A huge thank you to our amazing Storyybrook team for putting so much effort into making the end of the school year such a memorable one for our young people 👏

Before the summer holidays, our young people enjoyed stepping back in time and exploring the world of Vikings, alongside discovering more about the incredible world of insects ⚔️

During their Viking topic, young people learned about Viking warriors, longships, gods, myths and explorers. They brought their learning to life by creating cardboard helmets, Viking shields and longships, as well as taking part in word searches and scavenger hunts.

The insect topic gave young people plenty of opportunities to get creative too. From making insects with playdough and learning about the butterfly life cycle to building minibeast habitats from recycled materials and heading outside to search for insects, there was lots to discover 🐝

Alongside learning about two very different topics, the activities supported young people to practise their fine motor skills, problem-solving, focus and creativity in an engaging and hands-on way.

A throwback to some outdoor fun at our Birch Hill site 🏹

Our young people got stuck into a game of archery, giving them the opportunity to practise their focus, coordination and patience while enjoying some time together outside.

They also put their creativity to work, using natural materials such as tree bark to create their own crafts and see what they could make from the environment around them 🍃

A great example of how trying something different can help young people develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy learning beyond the classroom.
