Thursday Thoughts.

Learn to know the difference between being productive and being busy. You can look really busy, but not really be productive with your final output. However, you can be productive with your time and look less busy.

When it comes down to it, being productive and producing the right results is far more important than looking busy to those around you.

Use your time at work wisely and get the most out of a working day!

As of yesterday, the awards have opened for nominations to discover the brightest female business stars in its midst and we couldn't be prouder to be part of it.

Catherine added: “We are sponsoring the “Finance Professional of the Year” category, which is a new award. I was fortunate enough to win one of the brilliant Venus awards last year. We really felt that recognising women in business is a great thing to do. Especially in finance, which is predominately a male dominated profession. But there’s obviously some great women out there, we hope this will put them at the forefront!”

Tuesday Tips: 9 tips for a cracking CV

If you want to make sure your CV is sitting at the top of the pile and the hiring manager just can't flick past it, read our quick guide.

1. Keep it short and to the point.
2. Keep it simple – no mad fonts or formatting.
3. ‘Objective’ - include a couple of sentences to emphasise your key attributes to start.
4. Keep it results-focused.
5. Check your spelling and grammar or get someone else to check it, mistakes look tardy.
6. Avoid clichéd phrases.
7. ‘What/Who/How’ format for all achievements eg. £ sales target hit/client/how did you contribute.
8. Keep your CV updated – there is nothing more off putting than an outdated CV. An employer will think if this person can’t be bothered to sell themselves how will they to sell their product/succeed in their role.
9. Try to steer clear of just giving an objective job description. This is your opportunity to get attention about how YOU do a role not just what the role is.

Without sounding cliché, absolutely loving every minute of it so far, great atmosphere and environment! My weeks have never gone so fast and I don’t think I have ever learnt so much in 2 weeks! Enjoying the challenge!

It's time for you to meet the team and put some faces to the names you speak with via email or on the phone. Today's spotlight is on our new Executive Assistant Ciara, who we are so happy to welcome to the team!

Name: Ciara Lehane

Position: Executive Assistant / Daisy II

Quick explanation of who you are: I’m the new Daisy! Big boots to fill! I work closely with the Directors and Consultants, supporting and assisting them with day to day tasks & ensuring the smooth running of the office!

Your experience: I’ve been here for two weeks now, and I absolutely love it. The team have been so welcoming and I already feel like a part of the R&F family! No two days are the same, there’s always a wide variety of things to keep me busy, and with the occasional game of table football squeezed in, what more could you want!

Say a fun fact about yourself: I have a strange ability to ‘do voices’ & as a result I was ALMOST a voiceover artist for a children’s television show from the makers of Wallace and Gromit, but sadly it didn’t air!
