Wigton will once again host a Taste Cumbria food and drink festival in 2026, with the event confirmed for Saturday 25 April 🌮🍻

The Wigton festival is one of five events organised by Cumberland Council under the Taste Cumbria banner, which collectively brought around £6 million into the Cumberland economy last year. The Wigton event contributes hundreds of thousands of pounds to the local area, reinforcing the festival series' reputation as one of the region's most popular food and drink celebrations.

Councillor Anne Quilter, Cumberland Council's Executive Member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, said the festivals were "firm fixtures in the Cumberland calendar" and praised the financial and community benefits they deliver across the region.

Food and drink traders wishing to apply for a place at the 2026 Wigton event can find the application form at www.tastecumbria.co.uk.

Wigton Baths Trust is urging local Co-op members to show their support after being selected as part of the Co-op Local Community Fund.

The trust recently welcomed Georgina Lowe, Co-op Member Activator (pictured above), for a visit to the community pool to learn more about the work carried out there.

As part of the fund, Wigton Baths Trust will receive a share of £5 million, with £5 awarded for every new Co-op member sign-up using their dedicated link. The fund runs until 17 October 2026.

To support Wigton Baths Trust, download the Co-op app, become a member and select Wigton Baths Trust as your chosen cause at coopapp.onelink.me/ftOk/zs801pu1.

Great turnout for the Christmas light switch on Wigton!

26/11/2025

To coincide with the Christmas lights switch-on in Wigton, we'll be offering free parking between 7am and 7pm in all council-owned car parks in the town on Saturday 29 November.

On the day, only half of Water Street car park will be available to use, with the other half being used for the fairground rides and various stallholders linked to event. That section of the car park will be closed off from Friday night so please move your vehicle from that area.

More information about the event can be seen on the Wigton Town Council page.
