Our Board of Trustees is recruiting a Lead Trustee for Income Generation.

This volunteer role will help support and strengthen funding across West Mercian Wing, helping ensure our squadrons can continue delivering opportunities and experiences for cadets.

The role includes supporting grant activity, exploring new fundraising opportunities, and helping shape long-term income generation across the Wing.

If you have experience in fundraising, grants, finance, business development, or simply want to support young people through volunteering, we’d love to hear from you.

Last Sunday, I was pleased to attend the 85th anniversary service of 1130 Wrekin Squadron at All Saints Church, Wellington.

The service marked both the squadron’s anniversary and 85 years of the Air Training Corps, part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

It was fantastic to see historic photos and records from the squadron’s archives on display, showing the long history of young people, volunteers and trustees who have been part of the organisation.

The Mayor of Wellington Town Council, Shropshire attended and shared some reflections, and the service was led by Reverend Tim, who is also the squadron’s chaplain.

We also heard memories from the Squadron Commander of 2379 Dawley Squadron about his time supporting 1130 as a trustee and volunteer.

It was also great to hear from a former 1130 cadet who is now an Acting Sergeant with 479 Rubery Squadron in Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing - a great example of the lasting impact the organisation can have.

Moments like this highlight the long-standing role youth organisations play in communities and the generations of volunteers and trustees who help sustain them.

85 Years of 1130 (Wrekin) Squadron ATC! ✈️
​A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night to celebrate our 85th Anniversary Service.
It was incredible to see so many familiar faces, from our newest recruits to those who served with the squadron decades ago.
​Standing together to mark nearly a century of history reminds us why we do what we do. From aviation excellence to community spirit, 1130 continues to soar!
​A special shout-out to our padre, parents, staff, and local dignitaries whose support made this milestone celebration possible. Here’s to the next 85 years of Venture Adventure!
