💚 WE’RE BACK ON BBC RADIO NEWCASTLE! 💚

What an amazing day for the lads at Lifelong Ability North East!

This time, BBC Radio Newcastle joined us at The Meadows Community Centre to hear all about our fantastic weekly music sessions.

The Meadows is such an important part of what we do here at LANE, providing a welcoming space where our clients can connect, have fun, build confidence and most importantly thrive through music and the opportunities it creates. 💚

Every week, the lads enjoy their own music session, where they can get involved in whatever takes their fancy — from singing and playing guitar to getting behind the drums. It’s fantastic to see everyone finding their own way to express themselves, develop new skills and grow in confidence while having a brilliant time together.

But the opportunities at The Meadows don’t stop there!

On a Thursday morning, our clients also take part in a Thrive music session, giving them the chance to enjoy music, singing, signing and movement in a supportive and inclusive environment. And, of course, we finish things off with a fantastic disco, where everyone can get together and enjoy themselves!

These sessions are about so much more than music. They create opportunities for people to discover new talents, make friendships, build confidence, express themselves and feel a real sense of achievement and community. Seeing everyone get involved, support one another and enjoy the moment is what makes these sessions so special.

And it was absolutely fantastic to see Anna Foster again! She always brings such great energy, and the lads were thrilled to have her back with us.

A massive thank you to BBC Radio Newcastle and Anna for coming along to The Meadows and helping us share what makes our music sessions — and the opportunities we provide so special.

A Wonderful Sensory Story Experience at Wallsend Park 💚

Our clients at LANE recently enjoyed a fantastic sensory story session at Wallsend Park, combining storytelling with the sights, sounds, textures and experiences of the great outdoors.

The session provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get involved, explore their surroundings and enjoy a meaningful activity together. It was lovely to see our clients engaging with the story in their own individual ways, while making the most of the fresh air and beautiful park surroundings.

At LANE, we’re passionate about creating inclusive, meaningful and enjoyable experiences that support our clients to explore, connect and have fun. 💚

Making Music Together at LANE! 🎶

Our clients at Lifelong Ability North East had a fantastic time getting involved in our music session, with opportunities to play both guitar and drums.

Music sessions like this give our clients the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, express themselves and work together in a fun and supportive environment.

At LANE, we believe it’s important that our clients have opportunities to explore new interests and take part in activities that are meaningful to them. Learning and playing instruments can open up new experiences, encourage creativity and most importantly, bring people together.

It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved, supporting each other and enjoying making music together. 💚

🌟 Exciting Announcement for LANE! 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to share the news that LANE CEO, Danny Wilson, has been shortlisted for Rising Star at the North East Charity Awards 2026. 🎉

The Rising Star category recognises the contribution of emerging leaders across the North East charity sector — and gives the whole LANE team, our supporters and the communities we work alongside another brilliant reason to celebrate.

Danny said:

“It’s a huge honour to be nominated as a Rising Star at the NE Charity Awards, but this is really a celebration of the incredible people behind LANE and the communities we work alongside every day. I’m incredibly proud of what we’re achieving together, and grateful to everyone who continues to believe in what LANE stands for.”

🐰✨ Our LANE clients have been enjoying a little adventure! ✨🐰

We’ve been loving seeing our clients get out and about and enjoy the wonderful Peter Rabbit Tales on the Tyne trail!

With 96 beautifully decorated rabbit sculptures dotted around North Tyneside, there’s so much to discover — from Richardson Dees Park in Wallsend to the coast around Whitley Bay and Tynemouth.

It’s been fantastic to see our clients explore different areas and discovering the sculptures, We’ve found lots of the rabbits already, but there are still a few we need to track down to complete our trail! We’re looking forward to getting back out there and finding the rest. 🐰

Peter Rabbit Tales on the Tyne is running until 14 September 2026, so there’s still plenty of time to join in the fun! 💚

Our clients have now been attending the Tuesday art sessions at North East Art Studio on a regular basis, and they continue to enjoy every visit! 🎨💚

Each week brings a new opportunity to get creative, learn new skills and spend time together in such a welcoming and inclusive environment. It’s been wonderful to see our clients’ confidence grow as they try different activities and create some fantastic pieces of artwork.

A huge thank you to everyone at North East Art Studio for continuing to make us feel so welcome and supported. Your kindness, encouragement and creativity have made these sessions something our clients really look forward to each week.
