Warmer Wirral is a scheme managed by charity Energy Projects Plus (reg. Charity no. 1080137) on behalf of Wirral Council and in partnership with British Gas. Under this scheme ALL Wirral residents (owner-occupiers and private tenants) are entitled to free loft and cavity wall insulation, which could otherwise cost £400. This involves a quick survey to determine if the property is suitable for the
work, and then your free insulation will be installed by British Gas. Loft clearances can be arranged for those unable to do it themselves and clearance is free for elderly/disabled people. However, as the government funding for the scheme is ending soon, all applications must be received before 31st October! Loft and cavity wall insulation are considered to be the most cost effective way of reducing energy consumption:
- Save £175 per year on energy bills with loft insulation or £25 with loft insulation top-ups (if insulation is currently 6” or less)
- Save £135 per year on energy bills with cavity wall insulation
