The first results from my survey on children and social media are here - and they’re very interesting…

Here’s what you told me 👇

🚫 81% support banning social media for under 16s

🚨 63% said they are “very concerned” about their children using social media

❌ Only 4.2% said they are “not concerned at all”

The biggest concerns are:
• The impact on young people’s mental health
• Exposure to harmful content
• The addictive nature of social media

Many peoples also shared thoughtful ideas on how we can better protect children online, not just through a blanket ban.

Thank you to everyone who has completed the survey so far. It’s open until 15th May, and I want to hear from as many people as possible.

I’ll be sharing these results with Ministers and raising them in Parliament as the UK Government’s consultation on social media and children progresses.

I was out recently testing the Wye with citizen scientists from Friends of the River Wye. 🧑‍🔬

It was really interesting to learn more about their work and hear what they are finding through regular water testing.

Cleaning up our rivers is one of my top priorities as MP, and I will keep doing everything I can both here in Monmouthshire and in Westminster to push for stronger action to protect them.

ICYMI: The contraflow on the eastbound carriageway will be removed overnight on 29 and 30 April, and will be fully lifted from 6am on 1 May.

After that, a temporary layout will be in place with lane two closed in both directions and traffic running in lane one.

🚨 WELSH LABOUR LEAD IN NEW POLLING: The latest poll from ‘More In Common’ shows there’s less than 2% between Labour and Reform here in Monmouthshire and Torfaen.

The Green Party are looking unlikely to even get a seat.

Don’t risk waking up with Reform topping the poll here and electing more climate-denying, service cutting former Tories.

Vote Labour May 7th. 🌹

Great to pop into Styled By Zoe Chepstow in Chepstow recently - a fantastic clothes shop just behind Coffee #1. They also have some wonderful accessories. 👗

It was great to chat with Zoe who is super enthusiastic about Chepstow’s potential.

We discussed ideas on how we can all support Chepstow High Street and bring more people into town.

Highly recommend a visit!

Make Chepstow Train Station accessible for all! 🚂

Last week, I was out on Chepstow High Street with local councillors and the Chepstow Train Station campaign group - collecting signatures for my petition to make the station accessible again.

We collected 100 signatures in just one hour. Many people I spoke to were not aware of the inaccessibility issue and couldn’t believe it when they found out.
