We're appealing for information after a man has tragically died following a three-car collision in Walsall.

We were called to Darlaston Road, near the junction of Wellington Street, Pleck, at just before 7.15pm last night (3 May).

A black Mercedes, yellow Skoda Octavia and a white Kia had been involved in a collision.

The driver of the Kia, a man aged in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and was sadly confirmed dead at the scene.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones and we'll be offering them support at this terrible time.

The drivers of the other vehicles remained at the scene and are assisting with our enquiries.

Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are currently working to establish the full circumstances.

We're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, and who particularly has dashcam footage, to contact us.

Three brothers and their cousin have been jailed for more than 65 years after of a man was brutally stabbed and killed on a Walsall Street.

Mohammed Khan, aged 22, was the victim of a brutal and sustained attack on March 17 last year, on Bloxwich Road, where he was left for dead. He sustained catastrophic injuries and later died in hospital.

Yesterday (Thurs) four men responsible for his death were sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court after they were all convicted following a trial which took place in February.

Asad Iftikhar, aged 34, from Bloxwich Road, was jailed for 22 years for murder while his twin brother Hassan Iftikar, aged 34, and also from Bloxwich Road, received an 18 year jail term for murder. They had also been found guilty of possessing a knife. Their younger brother Zain Raja, aged 23, from Bloxwich Road, received an 18 year prison sentence for murder.

Cousin Amaan Khan, aged 22, from Harden Road, was told he must serve eight years behind bars after he was sentenced to manslaughter.

The brutal attack took place at around 5.15pm in broad daylight and in front of shocked members of the public.

Mr Khan was taken to the floor and kicked, stamped on and then stabbed multiple times including to the back and neck. He died from his injuries later that night.

Mr Khan had arrived on the road armed with two large knives and had tried to attack Zain Raja before he was set upon by the brothers and their cousin.

Footage showed the four men carry out their prolonged and vengeful attack on Mr Khan. He was stabbed multiple times, kicked and stamped on.

The violent attack was witnessed by members of the public, some of whom captured it on their mobile phones. The videos were provided to us and on top of this we secured CCTV footage of the attack enabling us to determine exactly what happened. Our dedicated officers were able to collect and collate many different clips of footage enabling them to carry out a detailed investigation.

Officers worked tirelessly on the case compiling video evidence which would prove to be crucial in the investigation and which ultimately led to their convictions. Now all four men must face many years behind bars following sentence.

Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, who led the investigation, said: “We are happy with the sentences these four men will receive. They will spend more than 65 years behind bars for their brutal and senseless actions on that fateful day. Although nothing can be done to bring Mohammed back, we just hope the sentences handed out give some comfort to his family as they continue to build their lives without him.

“We need people to understand that violence such as displayed by these four individuals is something we simply won’t tolerate on the streets of Walsall and the wider West Midlands and the case just highlights the devastating impact of knife crime and the dangers of carrying knives.”

| A man who stole a 24-tonne bulldozer and drove it through Wolverhampton and Walsall causing havoc on the roads has been jailed.

Darren Coffey, of Harborne Park Road, Birmingham, stole the bulldozer from an address in Staffordshire on 8 November last year.

Crossing the border into Wolverhampton, officers were alerted just before 5.40pm that the Caterpillar D6 had been stolen.

Travelling along main roads, and causing damage to street signs and road surfaces, Coffey continued driving through Wolverhampton in an attempt to get to Willenhall to settle a dispute.

The 41-year-old, in possession of two petrol cans, called into the control room stating he was going to burn down a property on New Road, Willenhall.

Officers from the drone and dogs unit, response officers and traffic all joined together to try stop him and protect the public.

The teams were also assisted by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) who tracked the bulldozer from the air.

Due to the sheer size of the machine officers kept their vehicles at a safe distance to prevent innocent members of the public from ending up in the pathway of the bulldozer.

With authority to use a HGV in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the teams blocked the carriageway in Moseley Village, Wolverhampton, using the lorry as a static road block to try and bring the incident to an end.

Coffey then struck the HGV to the rear forcing his way through and onto the wrong side of the carriageway.

A short time later Coffey reversed the machine at speed towards numerous police cars but thankfully officers were able to act quickly and move out of the way.

Nearly three hours after we were first alerted to the incident he finally brought the machine to a stop at 8.15pm and was arrested.

He appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday (29 April) after pleading guilty to driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop, no insurance, no license and threat to damage or destroy property. He also admitted two counts of criminal damage, drink driving, and aggravated vehicle taking and vehicle damage under £5,000.

Coffey was jailed for 18 months and banned from driving for three years and nine months.

PC Rodgers, of West Midlands Police, said: “Coffey’s actions back in November put innocent members of the public at risk of serious harm and caused a large amount of damage to street furniture and roads.

“This incident saw teams from across the force work together alongside our colleagues from NPAS to try to bring Coffey’s dangerous actions to a stop.

“Thankfully after three hours the incident came to an end, and officers took him into custody.

“But this whole incident placed a lot of people at risk, so I hope that this sentence and time in prison will give him some time to think about the sheer devastation that could have happened due to his actions on that night.”

We've arrested two men and recovered Class A drugs during two separate swoops in Walsall.

Firstly, officers were on patrol when they spotted suspicious activity in Mersey Road, Bloxwich, at just before 9pm last night (Wed).

They recovered co***ne and he**in from the area and detained a man who tried to flee.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply. He is currently in custody for questioning.

Then shortly before 2am this morning our officers stopped a vehicle on Daffodil Place, Walsall. A man tried to run off but was detained shortly afterwards.

Following a search of the vehicle a knife and quantity of Class A drugs were found. A 40-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of a number of offences including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of a knife and various driving offences. He remains in custody as we continue with our enquiries.

Chief Inspector Sam Jones, of Walsall Police, said: “These have been two excellent arrests. Our officers have taken more Class A drugs off the streets of Walsall and have recovered a knife in the process.

“Drugs not only ruin lives, but fuel further crime. We're working day in, day out to tackle the scourge of drugs and identify those involved in trading them.”

You can report drug related crime to us by calling 101 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5555111.

At around 4.10pm on Saturday, 18 April, a teenage boy was assaulted and his coat and mobile phone were stolen.

The boy sustained facial injuries but thankfully did not require hospital treatment.

Since the incident, we have arrested two 14-year-old boys on suspicion of robbery. They have since been bailed.

As part of our investigation, we would now like the public’s help. Did you see the robbery? Do you have any dash cam or ring doorbell footage that could help us?

Anyone who has any information is asked to call 101 quoting 20/218281/26.
