With the continued cold weather ❄️, our Rescue have had numerous reports of persons on frozen waterways throughout the Greater Glasgow Region.

We are asking the public to be extra vigilant around waterways. Local waterways may seem frozen, but will not be weight bearing, if your pet or an animal is stranded on frozen water DO NOT attempt to rescue them.

In an emergency contact ☎️ 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ & request the emergency services 🚒🚓🛥.

"Please do not take chances."

STAY OFF THE ICE

Frozen lochs, ponds, and rivers - such as Strathclyde Loch, Monklands Canal and Drumpellier Loch -
are NOT safe.

Ice can look solid, but it is unpredictable and can break without warning, putting lives at serious risk.

Every year, people – and pets – fall through thin ice, leading to tragic and preventable incidents. Please do not take chances.

If you see someone in trouble, do NOT go onto the ice. Call 999 immediately and ask for the Fire and Rescue Service.

Your safety matters. Please share this message widely.
