🌟 What an incredible night at the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland Awards! 🎉 We were thrilled to celebrate the recognition of Fairburn Tower alongside Simpson & Brown and Narro’s Associates for this special evening.
A huge shoutout to the Landmark Trust and their dedicated design team for their tireless efforts in making this project truly special. We at LTM were honoured to restore this gem for our client, and we couldn't have done it without the fantastic support from the project design team.
A special congratulations to Julie Barklie for winning Project Architect of the Year for this project—what a well-deserved accolade! 🏆
We were also excited to see other projects LTM were involved in, like Aldourie Castle in Inverness, where we applied the stunning Lime Harling and copperas limewash and Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk, where we restored the masonry façade as specialist subcontractors, also take-home awards.
Congratulations to all the other deserving winners across various categories, and a big thank you to RIAS for organising such a fantastic event! Here’s to more achievements in the future! 🥂✨

Eleven exceptional buildings have been named today as winners of the annual RIAS Awards by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS).

Nice to see the LTM site team recently getting media recognition on BBC news for our Principal Contractor role on the major restoration work at Haining House in Selkirk. This has been a great opportunity for LTM to apply our craftsmanship to save another of Scotland’s national treasures from the brink of ruin.

This challenging project could have only been made possible with the generous funders, a devoted charitable trust and a passionate client with an expert Design Team. LTM are now looking forward to completing the external works completed before the winter and seeing the scaffolding coming down to reveal Haining House external façade fully restored back to its original majesty.

Wishing Haining Charitable Trust all the best in their endeavour to raise future funding to restore the building interior so that the public can enjoy the magnificence of this mansion for years to come.

The Haining House near Selkirk was left to benefit the area by retired lawyer Andrew Nimmo-Smith.

Following the recent scaffold removal and final external touch ups at No 30 The Square, Huntly. I’m delighted to hear LTM are receiving praise from the local community for our involvement on the external restoration of the towns landmark building. Built in 1875, this iconic building was formally Cruickshank’s department store, which traded successfully for more than 140 years until 2018 when it finally closed its doors.

Suffering from decades of inappropriate cement repairs and over coating with modern paints. The stonework had eroded to the extent there was no option but to replace the stone façade with 85% new stone to match the existing. The remaining granite rubble façade on Deveron Street were stripped of their modern cement renders and a traditional lime harl coating reapplied.

With so many of our towns-built heritage falling into decline, LTM is privileged to be involved in bringing this building back to life for a community owned and operated multi-use centre.

Bancon Construction, who are the Main Contractor, hope to complete the building soon. It has been good working with them on this project and well done to all that has been involved.

Built in 1545 and left to disrepair, Fairburn Tower in Muir of Ord has been restored by LTM to provide period accommodation for the Landmark Trust. This unstable dilapidated structure produced many challenges we required to overcome. After seeing the transformation today and reflecting to the ruin I first visited, I would like to congratulate all the team involved for their care and attention to detail throughout the project. A special thanks to our Site Manager Andy Taylor for managing this complex project to completion.
