New laws will introduce stricter regulation, tracking of waste, and up to 5 years in prison for waste operators.

Rogue waste operators have harmed communities across our country in pursuit of higher profits but stricter rules and regulations are being introduced to tackle dodgy and dangerous waste disposal.

New permits will require technical competence, and identity & background checks. The current paper-based registration system which has failed to regulate operators will be replaced by a digital system.

Waste will be tracked, providing a clear audit trail from collection to disposal and illegally dumping, or falsely describing waste could end in 5 years in prison.

In addition to these new laws, the Environment Agency will receive an extra £45 million and be given stronger enforcement powers.

In Blackpool North & Fleetwood, we know how important proper regulation of the waste industry is and it is great to see tighter rules and harsher consequences being introduced🌹

Reform UK have now been in charge of Essex County Council long enough to start posting fake news about IMAGINARY Labour councillors. 🤥

Reform deputy leader Russell Quirk claimed a “recently elected” Labour councillor spent an induction session asking about their pension.

Except that’s impossible.

There is only ONE Labour councillor on the council: Lee Scordis.

He wasn’t at the induction because he’s been a councillor for nine years… and according to Matt Dent he wasn’t even in the country at the time. ✈️

So the whole story was made up.

And this is what Reform do. They throw out stories like this because they know it gets people angry. They want you annoyed at some cartoon version of “Labour politicians” instead of paying attention to what they’re actually doing.

It’s distraction politics. Stir people up, point them at an imaginary enemy, then sit back and watch the comments roll in. 🍿

Don’t fall for it. ❌
