End of an Era at Tarleton Fire Station! 🚒

After an incredible 28 years of dedicated service, we are saying a bittersweet farewell to Crew Manager Jamieson “Jamo”.

Having gone through the ranks from Firefighter to Crew Manager, and even a period as Watch Manager of the unit, Jamo has experienced everything the job has to offer!

From all of us on station, thank you for your service, your mentorship, and for always keeping spirits high with stories from the many (often chaotic!) experiences from over nearly three decades on the run. You’ve earned every bit of your retirement!

Please join us in the comments below to wish Jamo a very happy and well-deserved retirement! 👏

Time is running out to share your views.

Our survey on the future of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service closes this Sunday.

We’re currently developing our next Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP), the five-year plan that guides how we keep people across Lancashire safe. At this stage, there are no proposed changes; we’re simply asking communities what matters most to them.

Your feedback will help shape how our services are delivered in the years ahead, and we’re keen to hear from as many people as possible before the survey closes.

🚨Incidents 14/01/26 & 16/01/26🚨

Tarleton’s crew were mobilised to two chimney fires in our community last week. Thankfully, both were extinguished safely to ensure there was no further damage caused.

On both occasions, the Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) appliance from our colleagues at Preston Fire Station was required to provide access to fully extinguish the fire from above.

A clean chimney is a safe chimney. Regular sweeping helps avoid dangerous buildups and ensures your fire burns safely. Please remember:

• Have your chimney professionally cleaned at least once a year.

• Use the correct fuels. Don’t use household rubbish.

• Keep your fireplace clear and safe.

Following these steps means you can stay safe when enjoying the warmth of your fireplace this winter🔥

We’re planning for the future of our services and your views matter.

Our Community Risk Management Plan is a five-year plan that outlines how we will help keep people in Lancashire safe. To shape our next plan, we’re inviting residents, businesses and communities to tell us what’s most important to them.

Your feedback will help guide how our services are delivered in the years ahead, with a further, more detailed consultation planned later in 2026.

Tarleton’s crew were recently involved in a training exercise in Blackpool, specifically focussed on Road Traffic Collisions (RTC). We were joined by crews from Hornby Fire Station, Padiham Fire Station, South Shore Fire Station, and Blackpool Fire Station. 🚒

This area exercise was organised to provide an opportunity for our crew to demonstrate their knowledge on how to respond to an RTC. It also allowed the crew to get valuable practice handling tools, stabilising vehicles, casualty care, and exercising incident command skills. 🚗

The simulation required crews to work together in unison to complete the task of rescuing the casualties safely and effectively, whilst also maintaining a safe working environment. 🤝

Winter weather presents significant hazards that make road safety an essential priority. Road users must anticipate these conditions to minimise the risks of such accidents taking place. Remember to check your tyres, leave sufficient space from the vehicle ahead, and slow down to suit the conditions (rain, fog, icy roads) ☔️🌨️

🚨Incident - 25/11/2025 at 15:27 🚨

Tarleton’s crew (L58P1) were mobilised alongside colleagues from Leyland Fire Station (L55P1) to a road traffic collision (RTC) on Bank Bridge, Tarleton.

The scene was made safe by fire crews and assistance was provided to start managing traffic alongside Lancashire Police to minimise further disruption. Those involved were safely handed over to the care of our colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.

Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.

Weekly Drill Night 🚒

This week, Tarleton Fire Station welcomed our 3 newest firefighters after recently passing their initial recruits course,

Please welcome FF Abram, FF May, and FF Edge as they join our crew to provide cover and respond to station within 5 minutes of an incident mobilisation!

As it was their first drill night, we put what they had recently learnt on their course into practice. This consisted of pitching our ladder to the drill tower, finding a hydrant to deliver water to the appliance, and delivering water from the appliance to the firefighter on the ladder operating the branch,

First of many drill nights for these new starters!

👨‍🚒 Some of Tarleton’s latest recruits from the recent On-Call recruitment process are currently completing their Initial Recruits Course at our Leadership and Development Centre in Chorley.

The course is designed to introduce our new firefighters to the role. The intense two week course includes drills covering various aspects such as how to safely pitch ladders, correctly operate the pumps on the fire appliance to deliver water through hoses, and most importantly work as a crew to successfully complete the task they have been given!

After completing their initial course, these new firefighters return to station to continue their development of the role and respond to incidents as part of the crew🚒
