Glenbarr Abbey, purchased in 1796 by the 1st Laird of Glenbarr, Col. Mathew Macalister, and extended in the early 18thC. Gifted to Clan MacAlister in 1986 by the 5th Laird, Angus C. Macalister, and is now run as the Glenbarr Abbey Visitor Centre, MacAlister Clan Centre, museum and gift shop.
