He needs to take a leaf out of the Basingstoke representative Luke Murphy MP.
Basingstoke are very lucky to now have such a committed and hard working MP
❗️LEE DILLON: MISSING IN ACTION ❗️
Your MP. Your tax money. Your emails. Ignored.
We feel it is our obligation to bring to the attention of the public the sheer disrespect Liberal Democrat MP for Newbury, Lee Dillon, has shown to the very people who pay his salary: his constituents.
Our Rural Affairs, Transport and Highways spokesman, Lee Allen, has attempted to contact Mr Dillon not once, but twice on two crucial issues that matter deeply to everyday people in West Berkshire:
📮 JULY 2024: Mr Allen emailed Lee Dillon ahead of a vital vote on the bill to outlaw conversion therapy. A bill that directly affects the safety and dignity of LGBTQ+ people across the UK. What was Dillon’s stance? Would he support the ban?
We never found out because he never responded.
📮 JUNE 2025: Mr Allen tried again, this time about the Employment Rights Bill a landmark piece of legislation that would:
✅ Introduce the right to disconnect, allowing workers to ignore emails and calls outside work hours
✅ Require companies to do more to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace
And once again... silence. No explanation. No reply. Just a wall of silence from someone paid handsomely to represent the people.
📉 Is this what democracy looks like? An MP who vanishes between elections? Who hides when real questions are asked?
What’s worse, it’s now clear: it’s easier to contact his party leader, Sir Ed Davey, than to get a single reply from Lee Dillon.
When constituents find themselves reaching out to someone in London just to be heard in Newbury, something is seriously wrong.
And it doesn’t stop there.
👥 When Mr Dillon held a seat on West Berkshire Council. Since being elected to Parliament and before he resigned, his attendance was a measly 36%. That’s not commitment to local government it’s using the role as a title, not a duty.
Let’s not forget:
Mr Dillon is being paid nearly £100,000 a year from the public purse, plus £20,000 in expenses including a taxpayer-funded London flat and constituency office.
So why isn’t he answering? Why isn’t he showing up?
📢 This is unacceptable. Newbury voters deserve representation, not a ghost.
An MP should listen before, during, and after an election not disappear the moment they win your vote.
Lee Dillon may not want to face tough questions, but here’s one for all of us:
🔍 If he won’t answer emails from constituents, won’t engage on critical national issues, and won’t even turn up to local council meetings what exactly is he doing?
We need an MP who listens, who acts, and who shows up.
Not just at election time, but every day in between.
