It is with regret that I’m leaving the Labour Party. I have been a Labour voter all my life and a member for many years. I’ve stood as your Labour Party Candidate for Tadley North, Baughurst and Kingsclere several times but I cannot continue to support this Labour Government. My reasons are the same as those that have made most Labour voters and Members uncomfortable I suspect.
Winter fuel
PIP
Water companies
Gaza

I wish you all well and thank you to all those that have supported me over the years.

Labour’s bold voting reform is a historic achievement 🗳️ giving 16- and 17-year-olds the right to vote across the entire UK 🇬🇧. For too long, young people have been excluded from decisions that shape their future on issues like education, climate, and jobs. Now, they finally have a voice 🗣️ at the ballot box.

We’re also making voting easier and more accessible ✅ by expanding the list of valid ID options 🪪, while taking firm action to stop foreign interference 🌐 and keep our elections secure 🔒.

This is a big step forward for our democracy more inclusive, more modern, and more resilient. Labour is proud to deliver the change our system needs 💪.

Labour invented the NHS. Only Labour can fix it now.

Labour is delivering record investment in our NHS — rebuilding it after years of neglect.

The choice couldn’t be clearer: save the NHS with Labour, slash the NHS with the Tories, or scrap the NHS with Reform.

Sadly, this happens too often in the quiet lanes around our villages

He needs to take a leaf out of the Basingstoke representative Luke Murphy MP.
Basingstoke are very lucky to now have such a committed and hard working MP

❗️LEE DILLON: MISSING IN ACTION ❗️
Your MP. Your tax money. Your emails. Ignored.

We feel it is our obligation to bring to the attention of the public the sheer disrespect Liberal Democrat MP for Newbury, Lee Dillon, has shown to the very people who pay his salary: his constituents.

Our Rural Affairs, Transport and Highways spokesman, Lee Allen, has attempted to contact Mr Dillon not once, but twice on two crucial issues that matter deeply to everyday people in West Berkshire:

📮 JULY 2024: Mr Allen emailed Lee Dillon ahead of a vital vote on the bill to outlaw conversion therapy. A bill that directly affects the safety and dignity of LGBTQ+ people across the UK. What was Dillon’s stance? Would he support the ban?
We never found out because he never responded.

📮 JUNE 2025: Mr Allen tried again, this time about the Employment Rights Bill a landmark piece of legislation that would:
✅ Introduce the right to disconnect, allowing workers to ignore emails and calls outside work hours
✅ Require companies to do more to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace

And once again... silence. No explanation. No reply. Just a wall of silence from someone paid handsomely to represent the people.

📉 Is this what democracy looks like? An MP who vanishes between elections? Who hides when real questions are asked?

What’s worse, it’s now clear: it’s easier to contact his party leader, Sir Ed Davey, than to get a single reply from Lee Dillon.
When constituents find themselves reaching out to someone in London just to be heard in Newbury, something is seriously wrong.

And it doesn’t stop there.

👥 When Mr Dillon held a seat on West Berkshire Council. Since being elected to Parliament and before he resigned, his attendance was a measly 36%. That’s not commitment to local government it’s using the role as a title, not a duty.

Let’s not forget:
Mr Dillon is being paid nearly £100,000 a year from the public purse, plus £20,000 in expenses including a taxpayer-funded London flat and constituency office.
So why isn’t he answering? Why isn’t he showing up?

📢 This is unacceptable. Newbury voters deserve representation, not a ghost.
An MP should listen before, during, and after an election not disappear the moment they win your vote.

Lee Dillon may not want to face tough questions, but here’s one for all of us:

🔍 If he won’t answer emails from constituents, won’t engage on critical national issues, and won’t even turn up to local council meetings what exactly is he doing?

We need an MP who listens, who acts, and who shows up.
Not just at election time, but every day in between.

💬 Share this if you agree that silence from elected officials is not good enough.

Did you know?
South Central Ambulance Service has now gone live with the GoodSam app.
The app can locate volunteers who are appropriately trained and accredited and send them to the scene of reported cardiac arrests before the arrival of the ambulance.

The GoodSam app is in use worldwide and is highly regarded. Every second counts in a cardiac arrest and the early arrival of one or more of these volunteers could help maintain a viable patient until the ambulance crews arrive.

On Saturday I joined a 10-hour shift with a team from the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust in Basingstoke

Sophie, a paramedic and Lucie, an emergency care assistant, who I joined for the day, were & are phenomenal. I’m in awe of what they do day in day out, showing so much dedicated care to each & every person they’re called out to see

I observed their shift because I wanted to know & see first-hand about the pressures they’re under & what I as the local MP & the Labour government can do to help them provide the very best healthcare that everyone locally deserves

It’s clear the role of the ambulance service has changed drastically over the past few years. They still do the severe emergencies but they also do a lot more medicine and social care in the community - taking on a much wider role than they ever have before. Supporting people with falls or issues that people may have otherwise had treated when it was easier to get a GP appointment.

I learnt a lot to feedback to the Health Secretary. Including much needed improvements to 111 service - too many cases where ambulances are sent but not needed. As well as supporting increased access to GPs and improving social care which everyone in Basingstoke already know are huge issues.

🙏 thank you to Sophie and Lucie for letting me join them for a day and to our paramedics, emergency care assistants and all our ambulance 🚑 staff for what they do day in day out - you’re amazing
