Local Government Reorganisation Update:

The news from Whitehall today seems to suggest a major rethink by the Government on something noone but they wants, some areas have had LGR scrapped completely whilst others such as Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are due a review, lets hope this is the start of a massive U turn at Whitehall, lets face it nobody wanted this, 87% of people who responded to the consultation rejected it, today is a great win for Syston but theres still some way to go, lets finish the job together!

Appreciate this is a long way to go for folks but i wanted to show what our MPs are doing

📢 On Monday 14th September, I will, alongside fellow MPs, deliver our petition against Leicester City expansion to 10 Downing Street.

I know travelling to London is not a small ask, but this is an important opportunity to show the strength of feeling across South Leicestershire. If you are able to make the journey, I would be grateful for your support.

Please join us at 1.15pm outside Downing Street. There will be a short gathering with speeches and photographs before I take the petition into Number 10 with colleagues at 2pm.

You do not need to come through the gates. Only a small, named group will be able to do that to deliver the petition.

I would love to see a strong presence outside the gates to show ministers how much this issue matters to local people.

Quite strangely that cloud bust gave us 16.6mm , but Brooksby got nothing. We have just had a bit more so figures will be higher in the morning .

The brook has already dropped a bit.

People may want to check the drains on their streets as the ones down here were blocked with leaves.

🌧️⚠️A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain has been issued for Wednesday and Thursday (26 and 27 August) – along with a warning of possible flooding.

The risk of localised flooding is higher because of months of hot, dry weather which has left the ground extremely dry.

The Local Resilience Forum for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland has shared some advice and information on being prepared for possible flooding.
