Yesterday, as many people will be aware, horrific racist graffiti was daubed in massive letters across a wall in Broadgreen. What could have been a moment of sadness was instead turned positive as the community united to respond and reject the racists. The community backlash led by current and former councillors Councillor Adorabelle Amaral Shaikh - Broadgreen and Repi Begum and community activists, and the community organising their own paint squad to remove the graffiti this morning, spurred the council into action and the graffiti was painted over before 8.00 this morning - kudos to SBC for being so prompt in dealing with this (see below)! Now there's a GoFundMe from community artist Inca Mole (link below) to put a more positive mural in place where the hateful message was - replacing hate with community love. THIS is what community looks like. THIS is Swindon. We reject the racists, we stand united as a community, against division, against hate. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/erasehate
