Job Role Feature - Volunteer Coordinator, Hartlepool

Our volunteers and Recovery Ambassadors are at the heart of what we do — and this role is all about helping them thrive.

As Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll lead on recruiting, supporting, and developing a dedicated group of volunteers and Recovery Ambassadors who bring lived experience, learning, and compassion into our services. This includes working with people who have experience of addiction, student volunteers, peer mentors, and family or carer volunteers.

You’ll be responsible for making sure volunteers feel welcomed, valued, and properly supported — from induction and training through to ongoing development. You’ll also oversee our accredited Recovery Ambassador training programme, helping people build skills, confidence, and clear recovery pathways. (The programme is accredited through Open College Network, and you’ll be TAQA qualified or working towards it.)

A key part of the role is supporting mutual aid and helping develop an independent recovery forum — creating spaces where people can connect, support each other, and grow beyond services.
