We have received a number of reports regarding the illegal use of road bikes across rural communities including on public footpaths, bridleways , farmland . There also have been reports of bikes on private land in Middle Lypiatt , Througham, Catswood, Stancombe and Stanley Downton .

These bikes can cause significant damage to the countryside, disturb wildlife and livestock and create nuisance for residents and visitors trying to enjoy the area.

Officers are carrying out patrols in the affected areas and will take action where offences are identified . Riders found using road bikes illegally may have their vehicles seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 and could face prosecution .

| On Friday, a local PCSO carried out a joint patrol along the canal footpaths alongside our volunteers after a couple of reports of anti-social behaviour ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผ

During the patrol they worked together to improve the area by assisting volunteers in removing graffiti among other things. It was great to support our volunteers in keeping our waterways clean and welcoming for everyone.

โœ… Nothing of concern was reported during the patrol, and it was positive to see the area being well used responsibly.
