Broken promises need challenged. UNISON are taking this forward.

UNISON has lodged a dispute with COSLA over their failure to pay council workers a minimum of £15 per hour.

Despite an agreement going back to early 2024 COSLA have failed to meet the April 2026 deadline.

This pledge was as a result of UNISON members striking for better pay in 2023. 

Introducing a minimum rate of £15 across local government is the right think to do, it will increase pay for the lowest paid and push wages up across councils improving recruitment and retention 

UNISON  will not forget about this pledge even though COSLA might want to. 

All council staff deserve fair pay and a minimum rate of £15 per hour.

Western Isles UNISON Local Government and Health branches have slammed Loganair’s decision to remove the morning flight between Stornoway and Inverness, describing the move as a clear example of “corporate greed” that will have serious consequences for patients, workers and island communities.

UNISON approached Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES) to request time to meet with our education members during upcoming In-Service days next month. For more details click the link below.

We will be at Sgoil Lionacleit on 11th August from 10:30 until 1:30pm, then at the Nicolson Institute on 12th August from 10:30am until 3:30pm - we look forward to seeing you!
