The SDS site is made up of open grassland, a stream, ponds and mixed woodland. Since 2007 more and more people of all ages have got involved on the site through one of the many activities taking places. Activities include practical conservation work, survey work, bushcraft, nature walks and much more! Are you interested in getting involved in the Steyning Downland Scheme? There are lots of opportu
nities to support and take part in this dynamic project - give as much or as little time as you would like, whether it is one hour, one day, or more!
• Work outdoors doing practical conservation work with the Ranger Team or the Young Peoples Conservation Group
• Help with survey work, data collection and recording with the Botany or Bird Surveyor Group
• Help to fundraise to support the work of SDS
• Help run events with other volunteers – including running children’s craft activities and games, serving refreshments in the outdoors, leading walks, taking tickets at events and more…
• Litter picking
• Write educational resources, leaflets and text for information boards
• Assist with publicity and communication
• Administrative help with the database
