The human cost of flooding is far more stark and real than any graph, presentation or panel of experts can show.

Our Cllr Sue Paterson met up with Ginette at the excellent and Trowell Boundary Brook Action Group roadshow on Saturday. Sue first met Ginette after Storm Babet in 2023 after her home & car had been flooded & Sue went to help out.

Experiencing a house flood is a profoundly traumatic event. An initial overwhelming sense of panic, shock, and disbelief. Then the exhausting reality of trying to clear up, moving out, major work, financial stress, and the emotional heartbreak of losing irreplaceable sentimental items to contaminated water.

Hopefully today the East Midlands Combined County Authority agreed to fund the ‘Adapting the Erewash Project’ after lobbying from our Cllrs, organisations like Flooded People UK, that attended on Saturday & public bodies such as the Environment Agency & Nottinghamshire County Council so that flooding like we saw in Stapleford & in homes like Ginettes never happens again in our lifetime.

🎥 The must see nationwide film - ‘The People’s Emergency Briefing’ 🎥

We want everyone to see it - so much so we have hired the Arc Cinema Beeston to put a screening on!

The People’s Emergency Briefing is a powerful short film exposing the scale, urgency and politics of the climate and ecological crisis

Bringing together science and real-world impacts, it shows how an economic system driven by profit, not people, is pushing both communities and the planet to the brink. 🌎

Join us on SUNDAY 21st JUNE 6pm for a special screening followed by a Q&A session to hear what we are already doing in Broxtowe and explore what more we all must do.
