The return of a much loved event, and a fantastic turnout showing our support and thanks to our Armed Forces Community.

Sunday 21st until Sunday 28th June 2026 marked Armed Forces Week in Stanley, and what a time it was indeed - the street was brought to life over the weekends with two great annual events commemorating and showing our thanks to the Armed Forces Community of Stanley, Durham, the wider region, as well as nationally and internationally.

We welcomed members of our Armed Forces Community including cadets, veterans, members of associations and organisations, alongside members of the Public and Civic Guests to celebrate two special occasions.

The Armed Forces Flag was raised on Sunday 21st June 2026, by a representative of the Consett & Stanley Durham Light Infantry Branch, followed by speeches from dignitaries in attendance. We thank all those who attended this special occasion as we welcomed Armed Forces Week to Stanley once again.

As the sun shone on the 28th June, we brought Armed Forces Day to Stanley Front Street once again, bringing over 15 stalls to the front street and Masonic Hall, live entertainment throughout the day, but not forgetting the fantastic Cadet & Veteran Parade to kick start the day!

We saw a great turn out for both events, and would like to thanks all of our attending stalls, entertainers, guests and yourselves for the continued support shown in these fantastic events!

๐ŸŽค Entertainers included ๐ŸŽถ : Charlotte Forman, Tyne Electrical Engineers Pipes & Drums, Miss Jean & The Ragtime Rewind Swing and Craghead Colliery Band

Stalls included: Annfield Plain Womenโ€™s Institute, RAF Association Newcastle & Gateshead, Consett and District Branch Royal British Legion, 8 Rifles, Help For Heroes, Alzheimer's Society, Smokefree County Durham, Stanley Police & Police and Crime Commissioners Office, FND, North East War Memorials Project, 29th Field Kitchen (Officially Formed in 1997), Military Vehicles, Quilting & Sewing Showcase, , Just for Women Centre Stanley, County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service, South Stanley Partnership (Pie Gone Alley), Annfield Plain & Horden Cadets.
