It was weigh day for our little Barn Owl chick today. He was just 150g when he arrived, and as you can see, he’s gaining weight beautifully! He’s making great progress and is now self-feeding, which is exactly what we want. Our contact with him is kept to an absolute minimum so we can avoid imprinting and give this little one the very best chance of growing up wild and eventually being returned to where he belongs.

On Monday, we admitted this tiny leveret after it was found with a wound to its side and a severe fly strike and maggot infestation.

Leverets are incredibly sensitive and can be very difficult to hand-rear. Combined with the shock of an injury, we have to be very cautious about its outlook.

Thankfully, for now, we’re seeing some encouraging signs. The wound is healing, and this little one has settled into feeding with its experienced foster carer.

One of our youngest arrivals who arrived on Sunday is this Barn Owl chick. The parent birds stopped tending the nest and sadly the other chicks had passed away so the decision was made to save the remaining chick. He arrived very weak and extremely hungry but after a few days of care he now has a brilliant appetite and is gaining weight each day.

Baby gull season is here again!
Reminders:
⭐️ Baby gulls can sometimes fall from rooftop nests
⭐️ If the gull is uninjured it should be left where it is, in the care of its parents
⭐️ Stay away and do not feed
⭐️ Only if the gull is very young (very small and still covered in fluff) and in danger ➡️ return it to a roof or nearby high spot if safe to do so
⭐️ Be aware of parent gulls who may swoop to protect their chick if you approach!

Is this possibly our cutest admission? A young orphaned polecat! 🐾

Polecats are the wild ancestors of domesticated ferrets, and they were once persecuted to brink of extinction. Thankfully, population numbers are now increasing and they are being spotted more frequently here in the midlands.

This polecat and our many other admissions benefit directly from your generous donations, which are used to buy much needed food and care supplies for the wildlife we rehabilitate. Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
