By far the most common item we found were cigarette butts. Maybe people think they're small so it doesn't matter, but it does because they are the number one item washed up on beaches and in our oceans.

St Albans Council's own report says we'll miss our 2030 carbon targets by twelve years.

Emissions went up 6% last year. The one community programme that was actually working lost its staff and is now pinning its hopes on a Lottery bid.

Seven years. Missed targets. No costed plan. A Lib Dem administration with a lot to answer for.

In response to the chair's announcement on the splash park at the Public Realm committee meeting this week........

We did not demand the splash park be opened on the whim of a heat wave. Residents have consistently complained about the reduced opening time since its change a couple of years ago.

Stating that the opening date cannot be changed just like that due to health and safety checks is a red herring - we raised the issue of the opening date again last October, saying: "It was recently reported that SLM accounts for Everyone Active show an increase in revenue for the leisure centres. Can we therefore review the opening date for the splash park to be earlier than July?"

Defending the current opening date based on the fact that the weather has cooled is not an excuse to continue to ignore the issue.

We heard about the council's commitment to the museums despite the huge costs, but still no commitment for next year to open our splash park in May in line with all other splash parks in Herts.

Over 1000 residents signed the petition in 24 hours. We should be listening to residents...

We've been campaigning on the Centurion golf club application for a couple of years now and last night it came before committee at the council and was refused on the grounds that the damage that would be caused in losing one third of the woods cannot be mitigated against.

Councillors have rejected the "ecocide" proposed by a St Albans golf club which wanted to destroy 1,000 mature trees in order to expand its offering.
