The monies have been counted and paid in and the overall total collected during the 2 week appeal stands at £8975.15!
This includes donations taken at Sainsbury's (£4098.29) and Remembrance Service collections.

Thank you to everyone who donated and to all the businesses who had one of our collecting tins.
If any businesses in Spilsby or surrounding area didn't have a tin this year and would like one next year please drop me a message. We also have some All Year Round Poppy boxes available which can be left out .... All year round 😊

What an amazing effort! So many readers told us we needed to highlight this winning shop window Remembrance display in Wainfleet. The local Yarn Angels who created it are pretty proud too. See comments for full details.

Wonderful news - our helpful staff at Sainsbury's checked the CCTV and all is in order. Poppies had been taken into safe keeping last night - thanks Sainsbury's for going the extra mile to put our minds at rest.

Unfortunately it would appear that someone has taken a box of paper poppies from our table at Sainsbury's.

We do not have any collectors in the area other than at Sainsbury's and the static tins. There are no street or door to door collections being made.

All volunteers will have one of our official collectors badges to prove that they have authority to collect and an official tin. Please do not not hand over any money to anyone who does not have these.

Today is our last day in Sainsbury's- we still have plenty of poppies (and dated pins) available.

A quick reminder that the Remembrance Parade will begin at 1030 tomorrow from the Buttercross followed by the Service at St James' Church.

Armistice Day - Tuesday, 11th November there will be a short service as usual at the Franklin Statue. All welcome.

As we approach the weekend I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for supporting the appeal. Whether you've donated, volunteered your time, had one of our tins on your counter or said hello to us in Sainsbury's, it's very much appreciated.
We will be in Sainsbury's tomorrow and Saturday (slightly later start tomorrow) and the local businesses have had more dated pins left in their boxes today and we will have plenty on our stall in Sainsbury's.
No need to ask the price - it's a donation and that's why you won't find the sparkly fancy brooches on our tables - we're not allowed.
We are not allowed to have purple poppies either as we are not an animal charity.

If you are out and about in Spilsby take a few moments to look at the wonderful window displays around the town many of which include displays again from local schools thanks to Eleanor Marsh who organised it all.

We're approaching the end of our first week of the Poppy Appeal and we've had a wonderful reception in Sainsbury's.

Last year's appeal, which ended at the end of September 2025 Spilsby & District raised £12,479.25.

Our collecting tins are in the process of being distributed and will be visible on counters on Saturday. Thank you in advance to all the local businesses and schools in Spilsby and the surrounding area who support us by having a collection tin and to our community who give so generously every year.
