Southwell Town Council will be holding a Town Environment Meeting on Wednesday 11 March 2026 at 7pm in The Old Court House, Burgage. Members of public are welcome to attend.

Recycling is about to get simpler, here’s what you need to know!

Under new national legislation, councils across England, including us, will be accepting extra everyday items that you currently can’t pop in your bin.

This will include:
➡️ More plastics
➡️ More metals
➡️ More card

The changes will come into effect on 1 April 2026 and we will keep you updated on what you need to know! Until then please keep using your silver bin as you do now.

🚨 Vandalism at the Skate Park 🚨

We are extremely disappointed to report that mindless vandalism resulted in the entire skate park, surrounding grass, and car park being covered in broken glass.

This made the area unsafe for users and has cost the Council significant time and money. While the clean-up work was completed today, staff were required to liaise and respond over the weekend.

If you have any information about this incident, no matter how small, please report it. You can call 01636 816103 anonymously or contact the police on 101.

Please help us protect and respect our community spaces.

Our Grant for Local Opportunities and Wellbeing (GLOW) offers up to £1,000 to support local projects improving the lives of District Council tenants.
