Today marks the 5th anniversary of the tragic death of Sir David Amess.
As a mark of respect and remembrance, the flags at Porters Civic House and the Civic Centre have been lowered to half-mast to commemorate this solemn anniversary.
This morning, the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea City Council, Cllr Tony Cox laid flowers at Sir David’s statue on Chalkwell Esplanade in loving memory of a remarkable friend, champion and servant of our city. His dedication, kindness and unwavering commitment to the people of Southend helped shape our community and will never be forgotten.
Though five years have passed, Sir David’s legacy lives on in the city and community he loved so dearly. He remains in our thoughts today and always.
May he rest in peace.
