Get protected this spring.

The RSV vaccine is available for adults aged 75 and over and adults living in a care home for older adults.

Many people eligible for the RSV vaccine will also be eligible for their spring COVID-19 vaccine.

If you are eligible for both a RSV vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine you can now book an appointment to receive these at the same time in some locations.

Speak with your GP to book or visit https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-covid-19-vaccination/

Congratulations to Somerset Foundation Trust on winning the Digital Innovation award at the first . 🎉🙌🤩

The NHS 111 online self-referral for breast cancer diagnostics, launched in 2025, has made a significant difference for women by reducing the time it takes to access a diagnosis through an online portal.

There has been 28% reduction in GP referrals, releasing over 1,000 GP appointments for other patients.

The service has helped diagnose cancers early for patients across Somerset, and setting the standard nationally after featuring in the NHS Cancer Plan for reducing cancer waiting times.

Eligible people in the South West are being urged to get their spring COVID-19 vaccine before the offer ends on 30 June.

Emma Redfern, Medical Director Specialised Commissioning at NHS England South West, said: “You only have until 30 June to get your spring COVID-19 vaccine, so it is important that everyone eligible comes forward as soon as possible.

“This is especially important for adults and children aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as COVID-19 can cause serious illness for those with a weakened immune system.

“This includes people who have a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma, have had an organ, bone marrow or stem cell transplant, have a genetic disorder that affects their immune system or are receiving chemotherapy, biological therapy or radiotherapy.

“Topping up yours or your child’s protection now can help reduce the risk of COVID-19 over the coming months.

“Appointments are available at local pharmacies, GP practices and walk-in clinics, but the offer ends at the end of the month (30 June), so please do not leave it too late.

“If you’re not sure whether you are eligible, speak with your GP for further advice.”

In line with expert advice, the vaccination is being offered to the following groups in spring 2026:
- adults aged 75 years and over (including individuals who turn 75 years old by 30 June 2026)
- residents in a care home for older adults
- those aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system

You can book an appointment via the NHS app, online on the NHS website, by calling 119 or 18001 119 on a text phone. You can also attend a walk-in site, locations for which can be found on the NHS website. If you receive health care at home, speak with your GP about a home visit.
