Which is why therapeutic fostering should be the standard in fostering.⁠
⁠⁠
Therapeutic fostering helps children who have experienced trauma build trusting relationships with adults, understand their emotions, and develop a sense of safety.⁠
⁠
It also teaches foster parents to look beyond behaviour and recognise what a child might be communicating when they can't put it into words.
⁠
None of these things alone can prevent su***de. But supporting mental health early and helping children feel safe, heard and understood can make an important difference.

WELL DONE to the foster parents who recently completed their Level 3 Course in Applied Therapeutic Practice!

Over five months, they’ve learnt about the theory behind therapeutic fostering and reflected on their own experiences to develop a deeper understanding of why therapeutic approaches work.

As foster parent Lorraine put it:

“It has reinforced to me not only that therapeutic practice works, but WHY it works.”

Remember in May when we sent out sunflower seeds to Flourish families?

Look how ginormous this one has grown! We're very impressed.

This got us thinking about how much patience, love and nurturing the flower will have needed to grow so wonderfully. It just shows that with the right environment and care, we are all capable of growing and flourishing to our full potential. ⁠
