There is still time to save Doncaster Airport!

The airport’s owner, Peel Group, says there is no financial future for the Airport, despite rejecting a funding offer from South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority.

Yorkshire Party co-leader Bob Buxton said “South Yorkshire’s mayor should lead the compulsory purchase of the airport, to safeguard air travel in South Yorkshire and the 800 jobs based there.

After all, if Peel don't believe the airport is viable, they cannot place much value on it in a sale.”

The benefit of the doubt was given to this Government in the 2019 General Election. Yorkshire votes were gratefully received and honeyed sentiments of levelling up and devolution offered in return. But the people of Yorkshire have not been listened to again. The Government's own flawed ideas are being pushed through in North Yorkshire. Now is the time to bring decision making in-house. I urge voters to support candidates brave enough to put Yorkshire before party-political interests.

The North Yorkshire public will only get a limited say on the most radical reforms to local government in the county since the 1970s when the Government launches a consultation in the coming days.
