This is alarming! Yorkshire Ambulance Service plans to close three Sheffield stations and consolidate all operations into one station in Attercliffe – without any public consultation. Find out more from my colleague Sophie Crossthorne and do consider signing the petition.

Amey should routinely inspect road signs but these escaped their notice. Not the notice of residents though. So helped by Bex, I went out to see what difference a clean makes. Judge for yourselves.

Yet again, we are hearing that water companies have exploited loopholes in our crumbling water system.

We will continue to call out this scandal as the Government sits on its hands. It's time to bring in a powerful new regulator to punish water companies for this environmental vandalism.

I asked Parks staff when the missing trampoline in Millhouses Park will be replaced. They told me they’ve received quite a few queries about it, hence this post. They’re very aware it was well-used and people would like it in working order as soon as possible. The attempts to fix it so far have been unsuccessful. They are working on finding a sustainable solution or replacement. I’m sure those involved will resolve it, hopefully soon.

A reminder to businesses. The South West Local Area Committee organises events so they can get together with business advisors to discuss issues important to them. The next one is tomorrow night at the Crookes Social Club.

I checked out the newly erected anti dog-fouling signs in Greystones, which a local resident asked me to help get installed. It’s disappointing that a few irresponsible dog owners need these reminders. The good news - officers from the Animal Control Service observed over 30 dog walkers using the area who picked up after their dogs. They commended this very positive indication of responsible ownership within the community. Another positive that made me smile. Charlie appeared with his owner enjoying his pet stroller, complete with a holder for poo bags. Charlie’s too young to walk the distance his owner prefers hence the ride.
The officers will continue to carry out routine patrols in the area to deter offenders but they also encourage any resident with information on anyone allowing their dog to foul, to report the matter to them on 0114 2037410. Any information received in held in the strictest confidence.

No excuse for ignoring road markings now! I asked for the double yellow lines on Button Hill around the junctions of Woodholm and Springfield Roads and the zig-zag lines on Woodholm Road to repainted so that drivers have no excuse for ignoring them. I have checked that they’ve been done. It won’t solve problem parking but should help matters.

I was recently approached by 180th Sheffield Scouts (Holy Trinity Millhouses) about taking over a verge near their Scout hut for the young people to tend to and plant up with flowers. My colleague Mike and I checked out the patch of highway verge on Whirlowdale Crescent which has been marked out for the turf to be removed prior to seeding.
I’ve been working with officers from the council and Amey on wildflower planting for some years. Creating wild flower areas without herbicides and with minimal cutting is not problem-free but the results are worth it – as a snapshot of last year’s bloom on Dobcroft Road shows.
I’m really pleased to have helped the Scouts make this happen, I’m looking forward to seeing the results of their efforts!
You can learn more about the policy on the council’s website or try Agenda item - Grass Verge Options, including Wildflower Planting and Community Funded Street Trees | Sheffield City Council https://democracy.sheffield.gov.uk/mgAi.aspx?ID=30203
